I love Smith goggles, frankly I think Smith has the best lenses of any goggle company. I was excited to try the IOX as they look amazing and I hoped they had a larger field of view due to being frameless.
Looking to upgrade from my older Smith Prodigy, I tried the Electric EG2, EG2.5, the Smith IOX, Smith IO, VZ Fishbowl, VZ Kabong, and Dragon APX. I was primarily looking for the best field of view as I hate feeling like I have tunnel vision in my goggles.
Unfortunately the IOX had the worst FOV of any of the goggles I tried. They sit far off the face and, while the lens looks big from the outside, the viewable part is rather small (you can see this in the video above at 0:50 sec). While the IOX looked hands-down the best of all the goggles I tried, I returned them for having the worst FOV, specifically vertical but also limited peripheral.
In terms of best vertical and peripheral vision, the fishbowl take the cake with the EG2 and APX a close second. APX have good downward vertical view for a medium fit goggle but just OK peripheral.
No doubt that the IOX are nice goggles and Smith's lenses are best in the industry, I didn't like the IOX for having such limited field of view.
Obviously its a large bag at 70l in the main compartment, however, there are two side compartments with strong waterproof lining for your boots. I wear a size 14 boot and they fit one boot in each side compartment. A stright side pocket fits my backpack while the small front pockets hold small gear and goggles. Zippers are strong, bag is well made and looks great.
