I've been backpacking for 20 years. I've used Merrill, Vasque, Kayland, Salewa. All gave me blisters. Did the JMT with Salewas which were the best so far until I tried the Salomon. Before I always had to use liners, mole skin, duct tape, blister pads, all of this in different combos. After I suffered some toe nerve damage with my Salewas hiking 230 miles I decided to return them for the Salomon 3D GTX. I just finished a 45 mile cross country section off the JMT. These boots were right out of the box, no break in period. Did not get one blister for the first time in my life. Awesome boots.
These boots were awesome. My Kayland Contact boots from 2009 fell apart after about 500 miles. Caleb at backcountry.com suggested I try the Salewa. I tried the Alp, Mountain, and Rapace models. I chose to use the Mountain Trainer for the 220 mile John Muir Trail backpack. I was hauling over 65 pounds including 20 pounds of photo and video equipment. Great traction on granite, sand and wet surfaces, great ankle support. waterproof. I crossed over 100 streams and never got my feet wet. I've used Vasque, Merrell, TNF, and Kayland. Salewa if so far my favorite.
For some reason these sandals stretched out right away. My previous ones, (same size) are two years old and are not stretched out. My new ones are now too big. Stange?
