Ride El Hefe vs Union Charger vs Union MC Metafuse

Responded on

The El Hefe are light, tho not even close to the Metafuse. Still haven't get to ride them yet, but they do look more phat than the Unions.

Quality construction and slick look.

I will update this once I actually get them on the snow. First impression is the construction is solid and they look super sick. I rode the Union Atlas for the last 2 seasons and while I loved the ride the straps fell apart rather quickly with hard riding and had to be replaced. I was looking for a change and after much research landed on these (The Goodride has some great generational product reviews). This is my first pair of Ride bindings and I was hesitant on the aluminum base response, but the technology behind the smaller mounting plate makes sense. They feel slightly heavier than the Unions Atlas, but only by a hair and it could totally be my imagination.

Ok, update after a solid 7 days on the mountain. Awesome feel, lightweight, and response, but the strap teeth strip out. Temps were cold, but I would think todays materials would be up to speed. You are not able to crank down the straps. Strictly rode these on some deep powder days at Loveland, Colorado. Bum deal is the down time to deal with. Winter is limited and getting more limited each winter. The Ride site will not accept emails. Have not given up quite yet...

Ok, I am just outside of the timeframe for Backcountry to cover. So I have to go to Ride which their email is not working. Sucks, but the reality is REI handles this no issue. I am buying a helmet tonight and I am strictly looking at the return policy that protects the buyer from inferior quality goods.
