So-So

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Pros:
-Great response
-Smooth ratchet release

Cons:
-Rough over the top toe strap fit
-Awful ratchet/ladder combo (spinning wheels and eating up ladders by day 3)
-Difficult base adjustment (have to remove Wedgie to get to base plate)

Good in patches

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I basically purchased these bindings as i thought they would be diverse, being able to use them in the park and on the slopes. They are quite heavy and definately don't accomodate your freestyle ability in terms of flex and pop. Even going down the slopes i wasnt getting the response i would have like to recieved. I probably should have opted for the medium over the large even though i am a size US10 boot. It will get the job done but doesnt have that cutting edge over other bindings. I opted out for Union.

Serviceable binding, step up from LX

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I replaced my LX bindings that were purchased during the 2005 season and these were a definite upgrade from those. Though they're geared more for all terrain, I found they had pretty good flex and as I no longer ride park, they did well for my down hill riding.

My major complaint is that after 2 days of use in CO powder conditions, several screws were coming loose. The base plate screws didn't come with washers which probably explains why those were coming loose, however I can't explain the screws coming loose that hold the plastic straps or the highback.

All in all I was able to tighten them and had good runs. Perhaps I was shredding too hard ;-)

A bit disappointing.

Purchased a pair of the Ride EX Frankens and I love the bindings. I get compliments on them all the time, but I do have one gripe.

The gummy mesh on the toecap has started to rip apart after only 4 days of riding. Given, I crank down on them pretty good as I like a nice, tight fit. Maybe I got a fluke pair. Time will tell as I am having them replaced.

Sadly, Dogfunk either wants me to drop another $160 on a set so they can send me a second pair and then refund me the money after they get the original pair back. As a long-time customer of Dogfunk, I was pretty surprised that they actually asked me to spend more money. The other option was to send in my broken pair 1st, but then I have nothing to ride on until I receive the new ones.

I am now contacting RIDE in hopes that they will send me out some new toe-caps ASAP. Sorry Dogfunk, I love yall, but you let me down on this one.
