Ride Kink Snowboard - Wide - 2010

The Ride Kink Wide Snowboard likes it rough, and it can handle your huge…boots. Don your ball-gag and spiked collar and make that triple-kink rail in the park call you Daddy. Burly edges and impact-absorbing Slimewalls let you get nasty without the fear of damaging your wood.

  • ProRize rocker shape is mostly flat with slight reverse-camber tip and tail—reliable edge grip with a hook-free feel
  • 85A urethane Slimewalls dampen vibration and absorb impacts to prevent edge damage
  • Cleave Edges feature beefed-up steel to resist dings and cracks
  • Biaxial fiberglass wrap delivers a soft, forgiving flex ideal for park riding
  • Fusion 1500 extruded base is tough as nails and easy to repair

Bottom Line: Turn the feistiest features into submissive servants.

Is this board ok for a beginner ? I have been looking at either the Rome Manual wide or the Ride Kink Wide

The Kink is a very forgiving board, so yes it would be an alright board to start out on. Altho pro's ride this deck aswell. If you want the Manual, you can also look at the Machine.I ride an 08 Rome Machine and I love that deck to death. Its held up on some pretty crazy missions, and is still kicking. Now I have ridden the Kink wide aswell and that deck is very nice for presses, jumps and its alright on steeps and trees. But yes the Kink would be a good deck to get you going. Also this deck is not a reverse cambered deck or anything like that, it is a traditional cambered deck, if that matters to you. If you go for a rocker, its way more forgiving that a traditional cambered deck. This being said tho, it makes it more 'loose' feeling or more 'noodley'. Some people who start off on those will never go back to a traditional cambered deck bec of the way it feels. But either one will do just fine. I would say the Kink is a bit softer than the Manual, and you get added 'slime walls' with the Kink, whitch are really nice when you are riding park or flying at high speed on hard pack. Its pretty much a dampening strip, for less chatter, that runs along the side wall. Hope this helps

I'm 6'1 and weigh 185, I've never ridden anything over 158 unless it's for powder. I currently have a 155 kitted up.

Butter Basics

This thing is like putting butter on mama's home made bread. Absolutely kills it on the "kink"ed rails and can nose press a box like a small child looking in a pet store window. If you're going for the big boy booters, you may want a little more structure under your feet, but if you'd slaying the urban streets... Ride the Kink.

You could ride anything in the 152-158 range. Seeing as your height has nothing to really do with sizing, you can ride the 156 no problem. I mean height does in a sense, but at your weight, it wont make a huge difference. The kink has sick flex, rides like a dream, is a nice light board, even in wide, and Ride uses Slime Walls whitch is sick when ur always killin the park. I demoed this board and every one before this one and I love this deck. I have the Kink from 2 years ago and its still kickin like the first day I got it. Changed over to a Rome Machine 154W for last season and this upcoming one, and im 6' 165lbs. But the 156 should be fine for you. Gives you a little extra length to take it everywhere rather than being stuck with a deck that really only does well in the park. Hope this helps brotha
