These will not fall off on the lift. you NEED to properly adjust the binding to your boot prior to riding. this will ensure correct fitment and binding performance.

Since there appears to be defect with the V-grip strap, If I order a new pair of bindings now, will dogfunk ship with replacement straps or do I have to wait from them to snap to replace them?

The Nitrane Contraband's are a tough set of bindings to recommend RIGHT NOW. I have to admit they are a great pair of bindings when it comes to comfort and style, and the 4.0 Wedgie footbeds are money. My legs never get tired and I don't feel any pain with the footbeds.
The cons:I ordered a pair this fall and I broke my first pair the second day on the mountain. Surprise, surprise, I broke the v-strap at the exact same spot everyone else has been breaking them. If anyone has tried or seen the original contrabands you will notice the v-strap is very flexible. The Nitrane has a much stiffer, pliable v-strap on the inside of your foot. Not sure I care for that design decision. It seems the change in material strength might be causing the tearing? Anyways. I just broke my second pair, this time, on the release button of my ankle strap. That's what happens when they're made of plastic and you're riding in negative temps all the time.
Bottom Line:Until Ride fixes the weak v-strap, don't be surprised WHEN you break it. Either way, I am returning my second pair and getting another pair of Nitrane Contrabands because WHEN THEY WORK, they are the best bindings I've used. Thanks DOGFUNK for the great return policy.
Nitrane FTW!!!

I recently purchased these bindings and I love them. I have rode them about 4 or 5 times so far and I have never had my board feel so responsive. The one problem I see people having is the strap snapping. I haven't had this problem yet but my guess is they will fix this for next season.

I bought a whole new board setup this year, including the Nitrane Contraband bindings. They were a little difficult to set up (you have to adjust them to fit your boot just right), but were great for riding. After the fifth use, however, the v-strap of my back binding snapped right where the webbing connects. I had been only going down a green too! Too much pressure on the strap, it seems. It's hard to relieve that amount of pressure based on this particular style. RIDE needs to make them more durable. Buy with caution...

Can I put my burton disk in here?
I have the 3 hole triangle thing on my burton dominant, is there a way to put these on there?

Yes, they will work with your burton board. The disc that comes with Ride bindings works on Burton Boards with the 3D pattern. There are directions in the box that will show you how to do it.

Im looking to purchase these bindings but not sure what size i should go for. I have size 11 Forum Destroyer Boots. Should I go for Large or X-large? also if i called you guys to make the order, would it be possible for them to send an extra set of of the v-grips or v-band in case it does eventually break?

get size 11-13 so if you grow a little bit more the bindings will still be good, personally if i were you i would look into union bindings, they are super light, comfy probably the most durable bindings and they also have a lifetime warranty
Great Binding, but...

I have to echo everyone else and say that these bindings absolutely rock. I have nothing different in the positive sense than to agree with Mr. TidBit's review, as he covered it all.The big problem, though, is that I'm another guy that had their bindings break. I had them on mountain for 4 days, and those 4 days were absolutely awesome. At the end of 4 days though, the binding broke exactly in the same spot as everyone else - right at the base of the webbing on the outer strap.Clearly this is a manufacturing defect, but you can still buy with confidence - Dogfunk will take care of you (and they took care of me), and so will Ride, if you're one of the unfortunate ones to get a weak strap. If you want, if your V-Grip breaks, you can have Dogfunk send you a V-Strap (the contraband strap), which will fit in the Nitrane, if you really want to keep them. All in all, great binding, but I wish it was a bit more rugged. For my riding style, there's no way I can deal with constant replacements, so I switched up to the Delta.

I bought a pair of these bindings about a month ago, but because of my size 14 feet I decided to return them. The larges do say 11-13, but they will work with a size 14.The problem I found was that while I could have made them work, they lost their functionality of being a quick in binding, because with large boots I had to spend time adjusting the front strap every time to the center of my toes. The large boot would not allow the front strap to center on its own.

I've uploaded some photos of my first set of nitranes.
I ride a Rome Agent 160 with Ride Contraband Nitrane Bindings size 9-11 and Ride FUL boots size 11.
Pro's
The Bindings overall are very responsive and very comfortable. They load quickly, which is the whole concept... My buddies who ride burton bindings or whatever take twice if not three times longer to get in their bindings strapped... i get off the chair, stick my foot in, strap once, crank it and go.
The Wedgies are pretty sick especially when you ride a wide stance. They help support your knees very well by aligning them up with your body so there is less pressure.
Cons
The Toe strap broke about 6 weeks into the season. Luckily i bought dogfunk 100% guarantee. I've already received my second set.. I went for a second set because i believe in these Bindings. They are kick ass-
IMPORTANT-
If you check the pics you notice they broke in an area where the webbing is molded into the toe strap... This makes the toe strap weaker in those areas... The straight up contrabands have no webbing there for their toe strap is a lot more durable. This is something I hope they fix in the 2011 model because thats why the toe strap broke... My buddy bought the regular contrabands and he has no wear. They broke on both my bindings same day... Luckily i could still ride for the next couple days until i got my new pair in. SO I WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED ON THE SECOND SET! THESE BINDINGS ARE SICK. Dont be afraid if you buy from dogfunk or any where with a sick warranty program. You'll be taken care of.
2. They take a bit to set up... But by the second pair i set them up in about 15minutes because i knew what i wanted.
3. This is minor but some times the strap gets stuck on the leather covering where the strap slips through when you ratchet down.
___
OVERALL _ SEXY BINDINGS! I'd RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND! JUST DONT RIDE AS HARD AS I DO!
I Love 'em

Extremely light weight. Flexible, yet very responsive. All metal ratchet parts, made to last. No troubles with any aspect of the bindings. I love them.
It did take me about 50 minutes to set them up them and dial them in to fit perfect with my boots the first time I used them. After that it was all gravy. Highly recommended.
Note: After a couple months of hard riding the toe strap did start to thin out and bend/tear. Fortunately both Ride and Dogfunk have amazing customer service and totally took care of me. Best bindings ever, if they fix that peticular durability issue.

Oh, also I decided to widen my stance as wide as I could(162 board) and used the wedgie 4.0 footbeds. It took about 1 run to get used to the change and I'm never going back. Very comfortable and natural feeling and I can hit huge jumps and stomp the landing with no pain whatsoever. Works like a charm.

Hey im looking to get a new burton custom v-rocker thsi year and was wondering how the nitranes would or if they could at all be used with burtons new Channel binding set up?
and if they would beable to will you still get good response as apose to using burtons est bindings ?
Cru Jones

Sorry man, you need Burton EST for Burton ICS boards.
N/A
Member since
Anyboard that has The Channel by Burton can only have Burton or Forum bindings on it. The disc that comes with your board will only work in those bindings or you can snag a pair of Burton EST bindings to use on it. Unfortunately Ride bindings will not work on Burton boards with The Channel.
This is straight up the best binding out there!!

I have never been happier than i am with my Contrabands.
They have an absolutly perfect fit with Ride Boots. So light wieght and sooo easy to get in and out of.
V-Strap Adjustments
N/A
Member since
These two adjustments on the bottom of the tray are key. You can extend the v-strap and make it narrower or wider depending on the volume of your boot. This along with the adjustment on the ankle strap and the new outer piece guarantee that your boot stays in place no matter what you're riding.
Outer Piece 2

A view from above of the new outer piece.
Ant

So these bindings with the extra piece will not be out until the oh '10/11 series?
If so, will ride be making any parts available to just mount the piece on the current production?
Also, the Nitranes in the pic look very Lime in color...are those the same scheme as the Acid Yellow? Or is that just how the yellow looks in digital?
Ant
Member since
Nevermind the above - just picked them up today and they have the riveted piece on the outside of the binding. all good

To answer the question anyway... These updates are on the version we currently have in stock. The bindings def. have a green tint to them but are still "yellowish".
