Rome Artifact Rocker Snowboard - 2011

If your definition of 'pow day' is 'enough new snow to go hit street rails', then the mega-buttery Rome Artifact Rocker Snowboard is your new dream stick. Rome's JibPop Rocker profile gives you ultimate catch-free freedom, while the large flat zone in the center still locks into rails to prevent those dreaded soggy boardslides. Top it off with QuickRip sidecut to improve stability at any speed, and solid construction designed to take some serious abuse, and you end up with a super-pressable jib stick that's guaranteed to take your rail game to the next level.

  • JibPop Rocker profile uses a flat zone between your feet, with rocker zones from just inside the inserts to the tip/tail, for the ultimate in pressable, catch-free freestyle looseness
  • QuickRip Technology uses 2 separate sidecuts, and extra contact points underfoot for improved control—the board feels short and predictable at slow speeds, and engages the full running length for stability at higher speeds
  • Fiberglass HotRods running down the center of the board increase ollie power
  • Glass Impact Plates double strength in high-stress binding-mount area
  • Impact Core Matrix uses wood composite reinforced with full-length wood fibers for insane flex and impact resistance

Bottom Line: The flex, durability, and pop you need for the nastiest tech jib moves.

Burton has a pretty universal base-plate layout; you should be able to bolt those on no issue.

hi I'm 140lbs and 5'8" would the 147 be good for me at all? I like rails boxes and to do creative buttering on the hill would it sacrifice the pop or no?

147 or a 150 depending on what you prefer, and it has a ton of pop, especially for such a soft deck.

Go for the 150 man, you would sacrifice alot of pop, especially since this is a rocker board. Also pressing will still be easy on the 150

JIB Board???

By:
December 25, 2011

I road this board christmas eve and fell in love with the ride... I am no where near a park/jib/rail rat. I'm older and want nothing more then to just shread the mountain. I was so surprised to use this board and discover I love riding rockers... Feels like your bounced up and over the snow and I can't even explain it, the feel was great and especially great at high speeds... My question is, why are rocker style boards meant for park use? and are they not recommended for someone who is looking to just shread the mountain? I tried 4 high quality boards on saturday including the GNU riders choice and still fell inlove with this one. Let me know what ya'll think..

rockers are great for presses, especially this board if you wanna get down and dirty on jibs and urban. i love it and have no problem rippin it on all mountain and even felt it was better than i expected on a pow day. its all what you like. i like to have 100% control of the board which a super buttery rocker allows even when just cruisin all mtn. theres not a lot of pop but i like the control i have over the board because of its soft flex, wouldnt change it for the world...cept for maybe a newer artifact rocker

its a soft board with an extruded base, especially well for jibbing, but to answer youre question..its a snowboard so itll def ride the mountain. the quickrip sidecut helps keep its stability when charging but also has a looser feel at slower speeds.

with feet that size a wide or at the very least mid-wide is definitely what you want. Toe/heel drag is the ultimate worst.

Hey, would I be better off on the 144 or the 147? I'm 5'6"

Hey, would I be better off on the 144 or the 147? I'm 5'6" and 138lbs. I ride a lot of rails and occasional jumps but nothing over 30ft. I know I'm over the weight limit for the 144 but would it make a huge difference in pop or flex?

Hey I am also 5'6" and about 140 pounds. Although I am not quite sure whether I am going to go for this board or the Arbor Draft, I do know that I am going to get a size 150. A 150 will just be a little bigger and be more versatile while not sacrificing the ability to press and do rails. The Artifact Rocker is a soft board so it will be easy to press even in a slightly larger size, and I know from personal experience you do NOT want a board that is too small. This will just cause a lack of pop and it will be way too easy to go "over the handlebars" on presses. So basically the larger size will give you more pop, more stability, better jumping, better carving, and will not sacrifice anything. If you REALLY don't want to get the 150, AT LEAST go for the 147, you may be sorry if you go smaller. While you may be able to do the same stuff, it will be more difficult and not as fun. Plus the 150 looks really sick but that's just my opinion. =)

i would for sure go for the 144 if i were you! if your riding rails and 30 foot jumps than a 144 is perfect. the rocker will also make it feel a little longer when your carving to the park, and the short size will make a huge difference in the maneuverability that you need to ride jibs. i weigh 210 and I'm 5'11" and i only ride a 150 and i hit 40's on it.

You would definitely be better off with the 147 if it was between the 144 and 147. I'm 2 inches shorter than you and 20 pounds left and I would go for the 147, so I'd recommend the 150 for you.
