Rome Design Snowboard - 2007

Rome created the Design Snowboard for riders like Bjorn Leines and Jonaven Moore who live for throwing massive tricks on big, steep lines. This directional twin-tip big-mountain snowboard (yeah, you read that right) gives you enough stiffness in the tail to let you charge switch down a backcountry face and throw a smooth cab 540 off the spine into the next chute. Rome shaped both tips like a nose for better float in backcountry pow. Two top layers of glass and two bottom layers of carbon laminate the wood core, giving you ollie pop off backcountry kickers and solid edge hold at high speeds. Aluminum impact plates in the lightweight core give you the durability backcountry riding demands, and the Design Snowboard's wax free smartbase provides the speed you need to pull it all off.

Bottom Line: Do you look at an Alaskan mountain face and see a 5000-foot terrain park? Then the Rome Design Snowboard is for you.

Good but not Great

I got this board for the last 2 months of the season this year. This board rode amazing compared to my starter K2 DART. Holds an edge great. Very fast. Great for powder. Light and very responsive. I absolutely loved this board when I had it. However after the very first day I had it out I noticed that I gouged the side-wall and a small piece of the top-sheet peeled upwards. I loved it so much I wanted it to look perfect so I glued the top-sheet back down with a light clamp to hold it. The next few times I had it out similar things kept happening, my side-wall caught something and it would peel a little bit of top-sheet upwards. So I kept gluing all the little knicks. Then, after one day of amazing powder I went to load my board into my car and holy-f a 3 inch section of the top-sheet at the tip of my board was peeling right off! And that was after less than 10 rides! So, as much as I loved everything about this board, I had to return it. I did opt for another ROME though because I had so much fun on the DESIGN while I had it. I just hope my new ROME can with-stand a little bit more abuse. For the record, my K2 Dart has been through hell and back compared to my DESIGN and probably ridden at least 20 times more. And nothing even close to my 'DESIGN problems' have happened to my DART.

by far the fastest most responsive board ive ever ridden (comparing to my previous boards, forum, burton, and ride). The only downside is that it scratches quite easily on top.
