The Rome Targa Binding gives you a precision fit and lots of adjustability so you can ride any terrain. Reduce your forward lean, wear your ankle strap low, and leave out the ankle strap's stiffening inserts for max freedom and flexibility on rails. Dial in rotation and forward lean, wear the ankle strap high, and put in your stiffest ankle strap insert (Rome includes two options) to feel at one with your board on a big-mountain line. Rome's UnderWrap heel cup goes around your heel and under your toes to transfer all your power to the edges for uncompromising performance.
Bottom Line: Strap into the adaptable Rome Targa, and enjoy the ride.
These bindings are awesome. I didn't know bindings could feel this good. Having gone from cheapo rental bindings to these for my first board setup, having your own gear makes a world of difference. Using these, this is the first time I have come away from a snow trip not feeling sore all over my ankles (Can't believe I put up with the pain for so long!). There are no pressures points no matter how tight I do the ratchets up.
The toe conformist strap I was a little dubious about, but upon mounting the bindings on my board and trying them out saw the genius in Rome's design. Given the option of either over the top of the toes or around the ends of the boot, the rubber toe straps stretch over the boot fitting and holding the boot down perfectly. I like to place them somewhere in between over the top of the foot and over the very ends of the toes.
The bottom of the bindings has a rubber layer so it won't scratch the crap out of your board.
Overall, I don't have much to compare against, but these bindings haven't done me any wrong!
I bought my Targas at the end of the 2007/2008 season and rode them once last season on my last day out. This season, I've ridden them about four times, and half of those times, something broke.
The first thing was the toe strap. It was a really cold day, and hopping off of the chair i stepped on the toe strap, and it snapped right in half! I went to strap in and saw my strap sliding down the slope. So, that day was pretty much a wash and a board tech fixed it with a file down burton toe ladder.
The second thing was the right high back (I ride regular). I did about three or four runs, got down to the chair lift and went to fold down the high back, and it had snapped right in half! I mean are you s**tting me? How does that happen? Maybe it was defective, but I'm just not so sure.
Rome customer service has been very helpful, though, and I had replacements for both parts within about a week. I will give them one more chance, but if something else breaks, I will go back to Ride bindings, which I've never had problems with.
These are a very good binding. I have had them for 2 years, and not had a problem with them. They are of a very high quality, and Rome customer service is amongst the best in the industry. Best use is in charging steeps and trees where response and control is critical. Buy these, you will not regret it.
Dogfunk.com knows that no one wants the used-car-salesman experience, so we decided to show you the other guys prices in an effort to keep your shopping experience as informed as possible. Overall, these are rugged bindings with great response and power, fairly good board feel, and ultimate adjustability. Unlike my Customs, which are great for park and pipe but squirrely like a Fiat on a logging road when bombing moguls or AK lines, or my Ride RXs which feel like Im wearing ski boots nailed to cinderblocks cuz theyre so stiff, the Targas can be tweaked from one end of the flextrum to the other without sacrificing performance.
My only complaints are that they only come in two sizes and my size 9 boots fall right in the middle (the S/M just barely fits) and that the autostrap should be called the uselesscrap cuz thats about how useful it is. Neither of these issues will detract from your overall satisfaction with these bindings though if youre only gonna own one binding for the rest of your life, these will do you just how you like to be done kinda like that skanky chick from last weekend.
So yeah, these bindings are super comfy and look sick. You can adjust pretty much everything on them too. You can do them nice and tight without any pressure points on your foot. My only gripe with them is that there is a peice of material on the outside of the ankle strap that catches almost every time i do the ratchet up. It's pretty annoying.
They could offer a night class to teach you how to set them up. Seriously, I read the instructions a couple times before breaking out my number 3 phillips. Once you do it, it's easy. They are just so adjustable. I found them well under 2 bones. Had to try them and I'm glad I did. Size 10 32 TM2's fit the L just perfectly.
I've ridden with burton and k2, these bindings don't even compare to those. You can adjust pretty much everything, they're extremely solid and they look tight as hell too. The response is amazing. Best bindings I've ever owned. Cop a pair!
Well, I loved these bindings until I broke the metal frame supporting the heel cup..on BOTH bindings so it's not a manufacturing defect. These bindings ride great which explains the good reviews but I bet most of these reviewers haven't spend 50 hard days in them. I only weigh 155 lbs but I ride hard and I ride for 6 hrs a day 3 to 4 days a week. Not good for anyone who really gets with it...backcountry, steeps, butters and hits. I recommend this binding for posers and gapers only.
