Can someone tell me about the liner or...
Can someone tell me about the liner or lack thereof? I would like to know how warm this coat is and it isn't clear if this is a shell, insulated jacket, or it has a removable liner.
Hey Ryan, this jacket has a light amount (40 grams) of insulation, a very high 15k waterproof rating, and a soft, smooth taffeta lining.
Even though 40 grams of insulation is a small amount compared to some, this jacket will be MUCH warmer than a shell. I generally run cold and prefer insulated jackets in all but the mildest conditions. I wore a 40 gram jackets last season, and I loved it! With a layer or two I was toasty in the most frigid mid-January conditions.
You will be hyped on this jacket!
So does this jacket have wrist gaiters or...
So does this jacket have wrist gaiters or not? Cuz here it says it don't, but other places says it does.
I just got this jacket and it definitely has writs gaiters. Some other places I read that it also has a zip out liner, but it doesn't. Bottom line: it's got all the features I want and none of the features I don't. Just a note, a lot of other reviews say sizes run small but from what I can tell it's just slimmer. Length is true to size.
runs waaaaay small.
First off this jacket has mad steez and uber-tech.
I was sooo stoked to get in in the mail.
Than I tried it on...
Picked up a size large like every other coat that I have.
This thing was so tight around my chest and shoulders that I couldn't cross my arms.
Might be a cool jacket for those uber thin guys who are 6 footish and 102lbs.
I just got this jacket in the mail. Its VERY heavy and the liner is much smaller than on the size chart. I have 38 inch chest, ordered a medium which apparently runs 36-38. It fits perfectly, but the liner fits more like a 36inch or smaller (completely unwearable). Had to exchange it for a large jacket and I hope the liner from that jacket will fit.
Update: Now that Ive had this jacket for a month, here is the low down. The media pocket in the left forearm is only meant for a small media player, not a full sized IPOD or IPhone. I do however like the season pass holder in the bottom left front of the jacket. If flips down for a quick scan, then velcros back up for the run. Also the pass stickers are an added humorous bonus ;)
Length of the jacket is good, its well waterproof, the zipper is metal and seems durable so far but it does snag on the split zipper cover.
Great for snow, wind and rain
This is a great jacket, loaded with features and pockets galore.
Removable powder-skirt. Powder-skirts are great on the mountain but a PITA around town. I love being able to zip it on and off.
Super waterproof. I've worn it on the freeway in a rainstorm, in January, in Portland. Cold, wet, and 60 mph + winds if you're on a motorcycle. It kept me toasty, warm and dry.
Hood is large enough to accommodate a snowboarding helmet. (But not large enough for a motorcycle helmet.)
Zipper flaps at top and bottom are a bit awkward. I'm not sure what purpose they serve. Not a deal-breaker though.
