Description

Fully committed to freestyle progression.

Designed from the ground up to be an instrument of all-mountain freestyle destruction, the Salomon Men's Pledge Snowboard Boot is committed to a season of aggressive progression in custom comfort. By using a witch's brew of tech, the Pledge gives big-trick, all-mountain addicts intuitive response and tweakable flex when you need it. The key is the 3D motion flex construction, which brings 360° for maximum ankle mobility while maintaining plenty of support.

Your boot should fit your foot; The ZoneLock closure offers a dual, speed-lace system for an individual fit that's comfortable from the parking lot to the peak. The upper lace quickly adjusts the top of the boot around your calf, while one yank on the side lace sinks your forefoot and heel into uncompromising protection against foot sliding and heel lift. This control perfectly complements the Balance Level 4 liner, which evenly distributes lace pressure from the top of the boot to the arch and heel. Combine this with the thermo-moldable Full Custom Fit Pro liner foam with removable ankle inserts for a snug, one-of-a-kind fit that won't turn to mush on landings.

The Empire outsole draws inspiration from skate shoes for both its look and functionality. EVA foam offers resilient dampening in the heel, and a thinner profile in the forefoot promotes natural movement and increases blood flow and board feel for better control and reduced fatigue. On top of the sole and right underfoot, the pre-shaped Conform'able footbed with patented arch flex hugs your feet with unmatched stability and pressure distribution to keep you upright all day long.

Inadequate lacing hardware

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The boot itself was comfortable, and the three different zones made it easy to get it snug and stiff. The problem is that the lacing locks are all flimsy plastic and not at all up for the task of holding the laces down. Ironically they're called something like "Sure Lock", which couldn't be further from the truth. Especially the side locks kept slipping up on me, causing me to have to re-tighten it every two-three runs. On the fourth day I had them the whole casing for one of the locks cracked, making me have to send them back. They should simplify the whole mechanism, it's a bad combination of flimsy and complicated.
