Two ways to slay powder.
This year Salomon is offering two different ways to enjoy the powder-slaying Derby Snowboard. Originally inspired by deep days in Japanese powder, last year it featured an exaggerated nose, stiff tail, and wide waist so you could get effortless float in powder with a significantly shorter board. This year you can still get that same design in the 147cm and 151cm versions, or you can ride the length you'd normally ride with the 156cm and longer offerings.
The shorter lengths (147 and 151cm) feature Rocket Science shaping, which increases the waist width to allow you to ride a board 5cm shorter than you normally would and still get the same float. The new longer lengths have the same long, rockered nose and stiff tail as the shorter versions, just with a normal waist so you can ride it in your usual length.
The Pow Rocker profile is flat between the bindings for stability and rockered at the tip and tail to keep it afloat in deep snow. It has a long, wide nose to keep it up in pow and a stiff, narrow tail for quick turns and maximum maneuverability. A quadratic sidecut makes turn initiation effortless for fluid edge-to-edge turns, and medium-density biax fiberglass provides a surfy feel in powder. Royal Rubber Pads dampen vibrations when you're plowing through chunder, and the Aspen Strong wood core keeps it lively when you're cruising down hardpack.

I am looking for a new pow board and was thinking about the Derby. I am unsure what size to purchase. I am 5'8" and 160 lbs. also, I was unsure if I should purchase a reduced or regular version.
