Description

A snappy, poppy, lightweight board for beach breaks or slower point waves.

Take out the Santa Cruz Fangs PowerLyte Surfboard if you're looking for a sweet board that gains and maintains speed in beach breaks or slower point waves. Shaper Chris Gallagher combines the speed, quickness, and pop of the Ozzie (sold separately), with the strength, comfort, and skateboard-like contours of the Gdeck (sold separately). "Fangs" on the nose, provide added strength and stiffness; thanks to its fang decks, flatter tail rocker, cambered set-in foot wells, and rigid deck contours, the Fangs is ideal for going to the air. The Fangs flat rocker adds pop, foot wells supply a locked-in-feeling while its rigid deck gives solid flex-free landings.

For improved durability, snappiness, and lightweight performance, the Fangs features PowerLyte sandwich construction.Santa Cruz uses a lightweight, recyclable, hydrophobic, and shapeable EPS foam core and layers it with Flyweight Rhino glass (a four-ounce layer of pre-saturated epoxyskin fiberglass) and Super Flex Hull Armor (flexible high-density composite materials) to create a protective torsion box around your board. In phase two of the layering process, a layer of Scud Enamel (pre-saturated epoxyskin fiberglass) is added and to a vibration-dampening skin to absorb vibrations and reduce board chatter while you surf. As a result, the Fangs is 30% lighter and more flexible than other EPS foam core boards on the market today.

The fangs features a Futures 4+1 fin setup and comes standard with a set of Curtis Hesselgrave designed fins that are made of high quality fiberglass for optimum performance. This setup enables you to ride the Fangs as a three fin for more hold and tighter pocket arcs, or as a quad for gliding and sliding. All of Santa Cruz's Powerlyte boards also come equipped with an SC Knot Board Bag for convenience and protection during transport and storage.
