Switched over this year

I have been a faithful fan of the Smith Phenoms... this past year I went on a trip through Montana and accidentally only packed my pair of the I/OS ... at first I was a little bummed because I've always preferred the phenom and the weather was ULTRA crappy (HIGH WINDS, no vis, snowing sideways, .... ) I WAS BLOWN AWAY by the I/OS...the goggle held up in the nasty weather ... I even hiked wearing them (well- I had to because the weather was so harsh)... usually if I hike in a goggle and get a little foggage because I'm sweating underneath them= I will have issues with the goggles for the rest of the day. . . I kept them on and skied with them without issues. I feel like the "no-frame" is actually great for bad-weather days. . . I had not given this goggle that chance until I was forced to and now I'll be wearing mostly the I/OS...

She loves them

Perfect gift for her. They are awesome and she thinks they're cute. the fact that they work well is secondary to the cuteness. Let's face it, if she doesn't like the way she looks, fancy goggles will sit in a drawer somewhere.

Swappable lenses make them dynamic and adaptable.

Smith has the full lineup on their website: http://www.smithoptics.com/products/#/Snow+Goggles/Spherical+Series/IOS/view/

IT's not instantaneous, but you can look up the options here on their site.

Great for a small face

Love it! Good fit on my small face. Just got a second one so that my tween daughter could have my old one now that she's outgrown junior goggles. I always carry an alternate lens in a jacket pocket. Either it comes in handy, or like an umbrella I'm happy when I don't need to make a change.

Awesome Goggle

I have owned several other brands of goggles and this one is my favorite. I actually returned the i/os for the regular size i/o because they fit better with my face gaurd in snowstorms. I love the trees and these saved my eyes from being literally poked out, I hit them on several branches sticking out (some very hard) and I only have a couple of scratches after a full season and I can't see them when I put the goggles on. I had the ignitor mirror lens which does great in low/flat light but during blue bird days I wish I had a darker lens. I think they should make more lens options available because I didn't even use the sensor lens it was too light and would be good for night boarding. If I could make my own package I would have got the ignitor mirror lens with the darker mirror lens.

Quick lens change

This has been my favorite ski goggle. I have never had a problem with them fogging. Changing the lens is a snap, so I usually keep an extra in my backpack.

So good I have 2!

Best goggles I have ever owned. They have never fogged on me. They fit my face very well and work with both helmet and touque without issues.
Lots of colour selections for folks to pick from.

Lens are easy to interchange and can be done on the hill, lift or clubhouse without problems. Multiple lens options as well!!

Such a great goggle I bought a back-up pair.

100% recommended

Smith goggles and Poc Helmets play really well together. No gaper gap. Love Smith Optics!

So Sick!

I've had these now for a few seasons, and still love them every day I take them out. The goggles have a sleek look, and the lenses are great- yet again, Smith doesn't let us down! I have a pretty small face, so these fit nice. They are pretty small though, so keep that in mind. Other than that, I love these things, taken them out for days on end, no problem! Plus, they fit great with Smith helmets, no gap

Any plans on making the I/O's for a Large Frame head. I have a Large coconut and I love Smith Goggles. Currently rockin the Prophecy, and I love'em, although I like the quick change lens feature of the I/O's

Mark, the I/OS is a smaller version of the I/O which may be exactly what you are looking for. We do not currently have it in stock but should have some for next season.

A Year Later

I can't say enough about this goggle. I've skied with these for the past two seasons, and had nothing but good experiences with them.
-tough, and rugged lenses - I've put these through the ringer with flying through small trees and even though they will scratch, it's barely noticeable when you have them on
-very fast and easy to interchange lenses
-fit nice and comfy on my face and work perfectly with the Variant helmet also from Smith
-no fogging whatsoever EVER - the only weather that has affected these was freezing rain, which would affect every goggle lens
-stylish and functional with multiple lenses that will not only suit the conditions but get heads to turn
-on the pricey side, but worth every penny imo
-make sure you take your goggles off your helmet when in storage - the strap will stretch out quite a bit if you do not

The best goggle I've owned by far. Can't really imagine a better goggle.

These things are fresh. Excellent field of view if you've got a small head (otherwise get the I/O). They never get foggy, stay comfortably in place for hours, and make you look like Daft Punk. Haven't tried them with any helmet combinations, but there's plenty of strap to go around, so to speak. Switching lenses is blisteringly fast and is more than just a gimmick; visibility can be DRAMATICALLY improved by selecting the appropriate lens. Damn all of you who got this for the joog on Steep and Cheap. I payed full price in my local shop, but it was all worth it!

Perfect goggle for smaller faces

I got the Red Sol X/ Sensor Mirror black frame and it works PERFECTLY with the Smith Vantage Helmet.
Never fogged and the ability to swap lenses before a lift in 1 minute is priceless.
Started the day at Jackson Hole with clouds on the mountain so I used the Sensor Mirror. Fantastic visibility. Sun came out and I swapped to the red Sol X. Amazing in the sun and shadows. Clouds came back and I swapped again. My friends couldn't see a thing but I could see every little clump of powder.

What happens when you ski or board about 30mph down the mountain? My eyes watered with these, it is a shame cause I love them. But I ski very fast and if you look at these goggles around the edges where there is no frame you can bend slightly and see a crack, so I can see why my eyes watered, anyone else have this issue?

Best Answer Responded on

I have the Smith I/O and I can't imagine how these could let in that much air as it is a similar design. I'd check to see that all of the tabs are properly affixed to the lens and there aren't any holes essentially in the mix. With the I/O, I've skied over 60 mph without any eye watering.

After paying 165.00 I was wondering the same thing. It seem when I was skiing at a low speed, or moguls, glades, they worked fine. When I gun down the mountain my eyes burn and watered, making it hard to see. I changed the lens, fixed the straps, and gave it 3 days, nothing changed. So I returned the pair I had for a new pair thinking there was a leak in the frame. I will be trying the new pair this coming week, but just thought it was strange that if you bend the frame a little you can see through to the inside. I guess that's cause they are frame less? I just hope air is not getting in, I will know. If so many for my style of skiing I need a frame around the goggles, though I would be shock if this is the case for 165.00 goggles.

Sweet Goggles

Great goggles. I was hesitant to spend big money on goggles but I'm sure glad I did. Amazing how nice these things are. Superb visibility and very easy to change the lenses.

I have gone through countless goggles in the past 8 seasons I have been riding. They truly have the most premium goggle without the premium price tag. Oakleys splice goggles that are attempting to be faster that have been released 2011/2012 are 220.... Smiths goggles for 2 lenses, precise fit, premium comfort, and optimum vision are 164. You can get a comparable Electric goggle for 150 but only recieve one lens. I'll spend 14 extra bucks for a lifetime warrenty any day. Smith is local to Utah so if anything under warrenty happens to your goggles it takes just a matter of days to resolve your problem and get them back. The clip is SO nice and makes for easier faster adjusting. Silicone-backed strap is great so your strap doesnt slide around on your helmet or beanie. Silicone beading inbetween your double lens makes for a longer lifetime of your lens and actually WORKS with the porex filter. One thing I do HIGHLY suggest is to allow your porex filter to breath after a day filled with moisture to ensure your lens is ready to rock and roll the next day so no moisture gets trapped inbetween the double lens(let it hang outside of its bag in a safe place). Also SO nice to know that they impregnate their fog coating inside the inner lens so you dont have to worry about wiping the fog coating off(still a thinner more sensitive lense, treat with care). Sensor mirror is fantastic night boarding/skiing. These lenses are like veiwing the world in HD. Genuinly awesome company.
