Description

All the bells and whistles.

Smith didn't pull any punches when it designed the I/OX Goggle with the Photochromic Lens. The frameless design ensures maximum peripheral vision. Smith's quick release system makes changing lenses a snap and its Vaporlock anti-fog system eliminates moisture before it can fog your lens. Photochromic lenses change tint with changing light conditions, so the lens works well all day, even if the clouds roll in (or out). Seamless helmet integration means you can forget about gaper gap forever, and the two included lenses let you change your look and worldview on the fly.

Happy with my purchase

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The photochromic lens is great for storm days when the sun tries to peak its head out, but I will say that I wore them on a sunny day and my eyes hurt. Not a quiver of one lens. The lowlight contrast is really noticable and when I take the goggles off I am always surprised by how dark it "really" is out. I have only had lens fogging issues on ridiculously cold days when my breath gets redirected into my face on the first few runs. After I clear away the frost/fog one time they are usually good to go for the rest of the day. Must be an equilibrium thing. I didn't expect to use the other lens that came with the goggles for sunny conditions (I already had a pair of Zeal polarized goggles) but, they fit so well and the lens is so easy to exchange that I use these goggles exclusively now. I have a small face and was worried about how big they are, but they fit great and there peripheral vision is noticeable.

how small is your face? (mind me asking)

Goggles

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

Gave as a gift to my sister and she likes it, says the lens is rad, but the fit was bigger than she was expecting. If you're looking for a smaller goggle, maybe try another smith model!

Best lens ever!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Photo chromatic lenses are nothing shy of the be best! It's awesome that these are so easily interchangeable but honesty with this lens you don't change lenses. But it is a good way to dry them out.No more sittin at the car with 3 different lenses for three types of conditions. It works for cloudy, snowy, bluebird, lowlight any type of weather.and on top of that you have a killer frame with great peripheral vision. Some of the most advanced anti fog technology. It is 5 x anti fog. It has a small micro filter that allows moisture to escape if gets in between your lenses..and don't forget that smith has your back..smith makes quality and they know it that's why they offer a great warranty on there product

can these be warn over glasses

It says it's not compatible with eyeglass.
Hit the live chat and they will tell you for sure.

i think they may be. Looking on smith's website the IO/x brand i think are all compatible with glasses. The X part meaning Rx most likely.

These goggles are not designed to be used with glasses. The "x" in IO/x stands for extra large, as the "s" in IO/s stands for small. These are the largest goggles for the IO series. And glasses would probably fit underneath them, just a good chance of fogging up even with Smith's Vaporator ventilation system. Smith's website lists these goggles under RX/OTG category. I've tried them on in a shop and they do indeed have floating foam temples. I'm not sure why backcountry is confused on this one.... open a box!

Great goggles

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I used these goggles now for about 10 days of skiing and I have to say they are pretty awesome. The photochromic lens works really well. Probably the best lens I have ever had for dark conditions (snowing/low light). They also work very well in changing light conditions. I use them with a smith helmet and the fit is perfect (Large helmet).

I heard photochromic lenses do not work...

I heard photochromic lenses do not work well in cold weather because they become much darker and that it takes several minutes for them to change in transparency. Wouldn't this be a downfall to putting a chromatic lens on a goggle?

I didn't have a problem with this..and it was cold in salt lake last year
