Braving sub-freezing temperatures sounds like a jaunt through the park in the Burton Men’s Arctic Jacket. Dryride Durashell two-layer coated fabric delivers excellent warmth and breathability so you can hang with the penguins and polar bears. Thermacore insulation with a sherpa fleece lining keep you warmer than a yeti in love. Get comfortable in this Burton Sig-fit (slightly baggy) jacket, and boost your riding power thanks to articulated shoulders, excellent venting, and a bevy of features to help customize your fit and keep you in total control and comfort. Fully taped seams prevent arctic swells from trickling through this Burton jacket, and a host of pockets ensures your ice samples, goggles, and pb&j stay secure. - Fall 2008.
Bottom Line: Thanks to Burton, braving frozen glaciers ain’t such a big deal.
Its a pretty good jacket. i bought it because i needed a new jacket and that sheep fur inside looked super warm. well its pretty warm but it was a big dissapointment that the fur did not going throughout the entire jacket just the torso section and the hood not the sleeves, if your gonna get cold its gonna start in the sleves and move throught the rest of the coat so wear some burton first layer or even a sweatshirt since the coats pretty baggy. one thing that did go wrong with it is the zipper pull is made out of leather and it broke on a really cold day i dont know when or how but when i wanted to take it off in the lodge there was no zipper pull. i called burton and they did say they could replace it but it would take about a week for me to get it back AFTER they recived it. but the important thing is that they wanted to replace it for free. i didnt want to lose a week of riding so i just put a paper clip through the hole and wrapped it in duct tape. I love the pit zipps and the velcro inner pockets not the MP3 pocket but a vertical pocket on the inside of the jacket that i didnt know what there for months of wearing it. the best way to discribe the fabric is that its very close to denim and you dont have to worry about ripping it riding throught the woods with all the sticks or thorns. i love this jacket and for 100 bucks now you, you cant go wrong
Jacket is solid, stitching and finish is good and looks like it will last many seasons. Only managed to test this jacket over the weekend in Australia as season is nearly over. Jacket is very toasty as i nearly over cooked in sunny weather so it may be really warm in the cold (0 to -10 degrees). Side front are zippered and the two chest pockets are closed by velcro (not zippers as i was advised). There are pockets inside jacket as well as described under product details. Only managed to fit in a few hours of boarding over the weekend with this jacket and it has kept me dry through out the time. I got a medium and it was slightly baggy/bigger when wearing it against the SW puffy jacket. So far i am impressed with this jacket.
Who gave that kid beer? He must be drunk if he's 5'6" thinks he needs a large. If you're 5'9-5'10, a medium will fit you just fine. it won't be baggy, but it will not be too small either.
love the blue. no need to layer, thin-medium base layer will do. pitzips are big enough to cool ya down. It has an ipod pocket. Hood fits over my RED helmet. I was torn between this and the bonfire aero and maybe I am just lanky or have long torso, but bonfire was too short for me. The arctic isn't too baggy and is just right length. (my old special blend gunner was pretty baggy and long compared to this). strange things: no zippers (only velcro) on chest and internal pockets. Also, wish it had ninja cuffs on wrists like the bonfire did. sizing is spot on. I wear large in all my t-shrits and coats, and large fit me perfect.
This jacket is worthed beyond its price ... keeps you warm and comfy in the hill or the city. One thing that could be improved is the outer zipper's velcro (it wears off fast - I think buttons would be better) I recommend it big time!
I'm gunna be in Whistler for 6 months next season. Do you guys think this will be warm/waterproof enough on the mountain in the worst conditions? I'm considering the Burton AK 2L Turbine Jacket instead.
no go AK, this cant hold a candle to the performance, not to mention the sherpa linig will retain water like a sponge and kill breathablity and moisture transfer
The jacket is an sweat deal for the price. I only wore one layer, and was warm the entire time, even as the temperature dropped to below freezing. At times I had to use the vents, just from walking betwen the car to the lift. The only thing that got me was that my handle on the zipper broke off. I am guessing some random tree branch took it out.
