Burton Ion Snowboard Boot - Men's - 2008

Reinventing the wheel is a tall order, but that’s what Burton did with the Men’s Ion Snowboard Boot. Burton redesigned the Ion with a low-profile EST midsole to lower your center of gravity and give you better board feel. Use Burton’s new RX adjustable cushioning system to switch between the cushion of gel and the responsiveness of air, depending on what kind of riding you’re doing. Burton’s Imprint 4 liner molds to your foot and delivers excellent ankle support and heel hold. The Ion’s Speed Zone lacing system makes it easy and fast to get on the hill and spend less time trying to find the right fit.**DISCONTINUED**

Bottom Line: Reinvent your riding when you lace up the Burton Men’s Ion Snowboard Boot.

Nothing Better!

The best boot on the market! Amazing value, warmth, and design. The gel and air inserts make the boot perfect for all-mountain terrian. The heel support is great. The liner molds right to your foot and the boots imprint is about one size smaller! Would recomend to any snowboard looking for preformance!

Great boot but laces....

This boot is perfect for laying out carves but isn't too stiff, meaning u can still have fun jibbing. The only problem is the lace hooks don't always catch for the 09 model.

Amazing.

So warm, i have to take them off to let my feet cool off.
Just right flex, i can go from park to powder without touching the laces.
Best of all, no more sore feet.
If you're willing to spend a pay check or two, BUY THESE BOOTS.

09 Burton ION

By:
March 19, 2009

Boots were uncomfortable due to being a 1/2 size too small even though I ordered a 1/2 size larger than normal. The speed zone lacing is awesome! The liner has built in cushions to lock your ankle in the heel and this caused some minor bruising on my calf the first few days, but it broke in after a bit. Taking the liner out and flexing it and the boot on the natural hinge of my foot seemed to help with the comfort. Felt lots of control on the board. Dogfunk is sending a replacement so hopefully the correct size will make the difference.

Awesome boots

These are the most comfortable boots I've ever put on. The lacing system is very fast and easy to use. I do worry about tearing the laces and being screwed for the rest of the day, but burton stands behind their product and would have it fixed in a few days. Boots are stiff, but not too stiff for the park. One of my favorite features is the velcro in the liner. Order a 1/2 size up.

got the green 09's. i was a little worried about them being too stiff. not a problem though. i actually really liked having a little more support.
i've had sl-7's and sl-9's, i have those in 11 but got the ions in 11.5, definitely glad i did, they fit just the same.
i really like the improvements made on the 09's, i always hated the velcro strap at the top of the liner but they did away with it (on these 09 ions at least).
i vowed never to buy boots without speedzone laces it after i got the sl-9's. i do like the batwing handles on the ion speedzones this year as opposed to the handles on the old style.
comes with gel pad inside the heel that you can swap with a nike-air-type version, kinda hard to replace the liner without knocking the cushioning out of place. only complaint.
hiked inbounds at snowbird today, they performed wonderfully.
i would definitely recommend these.

These boots make me want to board more

By:
February 20, 2009

That should say it all. I ride all mountain freestyle hardly any park, had Burton Sabbath previously. I love these boots. Truly a wonderful fit and getting more comfortable with use. The flex is perfect, plus i can adjust how tight they are anywhere on the foot, on liner, bottom or top which is very useful. Response from foot to board is awesome and i can walk around in them pretty easily as well. Seem to be pretty durable and i do expect so, the sabbaths where very durable. Oh and one of the best things, i can take them off very easily, i dont know if anyone else looks for that quailty in a boot but it does show how easy the lacing system is.

Not what they used to be!

By:
March 10, 2009

Hey over there, I'm English and seasoning again in Italy (that's Europe). I am now on my third pair of Ion's and have to say that they are useless. I like the new velcro system and have always liked the speedzone lacing but these new re-designed Ion's deform when you close them. As for the support 8, I would probably put them at a 5 tops, more like a jib boot than a shredder. They look ridiculously out of shape and they stop the blood flow across the top of my toes and have ruined my season as I have no cash to purchase others. I have a narrow foot which used to have no probs in the old Ions but now I'm gutted!! As you dudes say over there, If it ain't broke, don't try and fix it!
