Making the Custom Snowboard even better seems impossible, but that's what Burton did with the Custom V-Rocker Snowboard. With V-Rocker reverse camber technology, Burton made the Custom V-Rocker Snowboard even more fun to ride. This de-cambered rocker energizes edge control under you feet while disengaging tip and tail contact points for a catch-free feel with added stability and pop. With a amped-up edges, softer flex and slightly wider waist width this Burton all-mountain freestyle space stick cranks out other worldly turns, adds stability to your landings, and even more pop than its cambered brother.
The Channel binding mount system for infinite stance options, better board feel, and direct energy transfer (works with Burton EST and 3D bindings)
V-Rocker reverse camber for more fun and better board control
Dualzone EGD improves power transfer, response edge hold
Negative profile for softer flex and torsion is great for a variety of terrain
Triax Response Fiberglass is a versatile laminate with response designed for all types of terrain and jibbing
Lightning Rods and Carbon I-Beam for more snap, response, and control
Pro-Tip tapered tip and tail for reduced swing weight
Infinite Ride technology makes your board deliver consistent performance and feel from day one to day one thousand, so you never have to break your board in or worry that it's performance will fade
Pressure Distribution edges with Grip and Rip tune for awesome edge hold on hard, icy terrain, but tons of playfulness in softer snow
Bottom Line: Like adding glorious hot sauce to an already amazing burrito.
I need help choosing a size. I've been riding a Ride Dose, which as most of you should know, its a wide board. I recently picked up some new Burton Rulers and since they decrease your foot print by 1 size, my feet should be about a 10 with those. I'm trying to stay away from wide boards, so I was thinking about thise board. Now I normally ride 158's, but the sizing chart says I should be riding a 157, so I don't know if i should go with the 156 or the 159. I'm 6'1'' and 170 lbs. Thanks everyone for the feed back!
Well Im a manager at a snowboard shop, and just recently ordered this board. I got to ride it last year, and it is amazing. You will want to size it down from what you usually ride, because any rocker board is going to feel longer than a regular camber board. Im 6'2 and like 180 pounds and am riding a 156, and that is the longest I would go for my size on this board. So size down! Hope that helps!
Yo So ive been riding for 5 years now and its time to update the board, im an all mountain rider 6'1" 155 lbs >>>>Question<<<< is this a decent board for an advanced rider or should i be looking for something different and what size should i be looking for 155 / 158 perhaps and the most important part is will it work with 08 Burton Mission Bindings ?
The Custom has a medium flex that corresponds well with the Mission's flex. Get the Burton Retro Disk (free gift) to use all traditional Burton bindings with EST boards.
If you prefer piste riding, some out of bounds and maybe a mellow three over the big table top I'd go for the 159.
If you like to butter all the flat parts on any slope and jibbing random stuff you find at the edge of the piste, the 156 is your choice.
The v-rocker is a design so instead of the original shape of a snowboard, you have a bannana like shape, making it easier for you to get a shorter snowboard for park, but still able to keep your nose above the snow in powder. Im no expert on this, so my advice would be to look it up google. Its a fairly new technology and seems to make an overall better board, but again, im no expert. Its also quite new, so one might want to stick with the perfected style burton has in thier 2010 custom non-vrocker, but thats just an idea. So, look it up, research it, and if it seems like it would suit you for what you want, go for it, if not, stick with the classic.
The board comes with base plates that allow the ICS system to work with any Burton binding. Dogfunk is advertising them as a free gift. Just click the link and you can see the plates. As for your other questions, I don't know anything about the vrocker.
I agree with DakkaGuru; the Custom is the most popular Burton board for a reason-it's versatile, agressive, fun, floaty, and now with V-Rocker it's more forgiving and catch-free, which is exactly what a beginner needs. Plus, this board will last you many many seasons.
This board will be fine for a beginner. The reason the Custom isn't considered a 'beginners' board is it is a bit stiffer, but not so much that the rider if dedicated couldn't handle it. It's also a bit more expensive due to better materials & tech. Beginner boards test to be less expensive for the inverse reason. All it means is if you get this for a beginner it's more of a commitment than say a Burton Blunt.
i dont think stiff boards help beginners, in fact its harder to control stiff boards then soft so in my opinion you should get something closer to jib type of board which are softer flex and usually lighter then stiff boards for easier control when learning how to ride.
Too silly and flexy for a beginner. Look for a nice Ride board, no DH. You need something a little stiffer and even a directional shape would help. Solomon, and rossi, make lots of directionals. Ride anthem I've been free riding for 3 years and that would be good. Little bit of flex and directional. Take it or leave it.
