Giro 2008 Shiv Helmet

The Giro Shiv Helmet is all about protection—not only from impacts, but from lame style as well. The Shiv is light, with a low-pro skate look enhanced further by Giro’s innovative Mag Clip Goggle Retainer, which keeps your strap in place without using a dorky snap-flap to disrupt the stylish flow. Want an even cleaner look? Remove the pads from the custom interior channel and run your goggles inside, so the progressive profile and graphics have room to breathe. Add Giro’s optional TuneUps audio kit to give your session a personalized soundtrack.

Bottom Line: Style and head pro that cuts like a knife.

This helmet is reasonable priced, looks great and fits well- the optional inserts can help you customize it for your large or small noggin, or the addition of a hat. I've considered wearing this for rollerblading in the spring, its that comfortable. And then my friends talked sense into me since we're not doing any jumps on blades anytime soon.

so sick

IF your looking for a low profile skate style helmet, it doesnt get better than this, you can wear and beanie and goggle under the helmet if you take out the pads so its so sick. Really dosnt make you look like a bobble head like other helmets.

pretty good, but.....

....the goggles kept slipping off the back and slapping me in the back of the neck. maybe it's something i'm doing because i haven't read anybody else having a trouble with it. what it is, the back helmet retainer actually has a very stong magnet, as does the helmet, so they stick together. i think i'm pulling hard enough so that it's slipping off and popping me in the back of the neck. the helmet itself feels good, though, and the vents have removable plugs you pull from the inside. it's lower profile than the protech assault, but not super low. probably as low as a helmet can be and still retain some cushion between your head and a tree. a 4 because of the goggle thing, but the rest of it is great. oh...what looks like weaving on the inner lining is a printed pattern on the cushion inserts.
