hi, im 5'8 and 147lbs. i have just been sold a 143 but im not convinced.....should i have got a 148. im intermediate and will be messing around on piste rather than parks and still trying to build confidence at speed.... help!
I'm 5ft tall and weigh around 90lbs - 95lbs. I've currently got a 143cm that I've had since I started learning. I'm now at a more intermediate level and and starting to learn to do some trick and really want a shorter board to play around with. So I'm looking at the 139cm - do you think this will be ok? In addtion, I won't be spending all my time in the park and want to know if this board will be fine for general riding.
So, this board is right up your alley. I think you should go with a 139...shorter is more playful...for many reasons...less weight all around will help you butter the muffin, slide some boxes, ollie etc...
The cool thing about this board is its sidecut: Sidecut comes down to how much edge touches the snow at the same time. Shorter boards have less snow contact, and longer boards have more contact. More contact equals more stability....ie "riding the whole mountain" or cruising groomers etc.
This board is designed to be ridden a little smaller. It has the "edge contact" of a bigger board, in smaller sizes.
I'll never forget the first time a rode a short board....I felt like weights had been lifted off my feet!! you will love it.
I got this board at the end of last season, and I can't believe how much I love it. Coming from the stiffer side of snowboards, I just wanted something fun and jibby to play with, and I totally got it in this board. The rocker is amazing and makes it not only super nice to get jibby with, but really floaty in the fluffy stuff as well. It held up at speed amazingly well on the trannies (I was surprised) and is so light and poppy I got way more height than I've ever gotten before. Not so much for laying down carves on groomers, although it can happen ( I found it just takes some more oomph to get the board up and over the edge), but totally made for the park-rats/future pros in us. :) I never liked K2 boards before because they always felt way too wide on my size 5 foot, but this one rocks. Be ready to have to wax it a lot...the extruded base is worth it though.
hey i am 5'4" and 130 pounds. I would say I am more of an advanced rider but i am torn on which size I should do. Would going up to a 148 be too much board for me?
It really depends on your preferences, but if i was you i would go short because i like a flexy short board, but i really don't think that the 148 will be to much board for you considering its almost the exact size that is suggested for you on the sizing chart.
I'm the same exact height and weight, I ride a 143. Depending on how long you've been riding. This board is soft and bends really easily...you would probably be ok with the 143, even if you are new to riding. On a 139 you have to be concerned with ending up with a stance too narrow, where if you bump up to the next size, you could play with it all you wanted and never really run out of options. Also, once you start doing pressure tricks and getting jibby, you don't want to have to worry about falling off the end of the board all the time. Get something that you'll advance into, not something that is perfect right now.
