OGIO Flak Jacket - 2008

The OGIO Flak Jacket excels as a carry-all vest for short sidecountry laps, sled access riding, or utility use by resort workers. The Flak Jacket incorporates all the essential features of a technical day pack into a stylish and functional vest. OGIO gave this one-of-a-kind vest an external shovel carry system and internal probe pocket. Other features include a hydration sleeve, and insulated shoulder hose compartment, and dedicated pockets for key items like goggles, audio players, and lift passes. The Flak Jacket supports horizontal board or diagonal ski carry systems for hiking to the goods, and it has a padded spine panel so you can huck your meat with extra confidence.

Bottom Line: Forget the pack and suit up in this OGIO original.

It's basically more awesome than a cat playing poo sticks. And that's awesome.

Actually the Flak Jacket is only made in one size fits most. It is adjustable but only comes in one size.

Ogio Flak Jacket

This thing is the sh!#. I have used it almost everyday I've gone skiing in the past two seasons. It carries everything I'll need in a day of skiing: extra goggles or lenses, granola bars, PBR tall boy, shovel, probe, VIO POV.1 helmet cam, extra base layer, etc. And the best part? I don't have to take it off when I ride chairlifts. This is definitely an in-bounds/outta-bounds assault vest, and must be used like one. Get yer shred on!

OG Style and OB Functionality.

Rarely do I hit front-country / short backcountry tours without this vest. Relatively lightweight, plenty of pockets for all of the essentials and well designed for taking a beating. Ridden almost 30 days in the backcountry with this vest and valued it every day. Ski carry is diagonally designed, balances well and accomodates my 107s to my 127's under foot. Used a large square blade BD shovel and 300cm length collapsing probe, vest easily held both in the proper pockets. Discovered that the hydration sleeve fits a pair of 130 width BD ascent skins as well as a 1.5 liter camelback bladder. Had extra goggles, gloves, bandanna, granola bars and a small first aid kit + SAM splint.. again NO issues and minimal bulk. All of the pockets distribute weight evenly. Have to be ready to back up this styling though.. you'll get plenty of looks and questions. DAILY piece of gear, worth every dollar.
