Red Hifi Subwoofer System Helmet

Bumping your tunes is good. Bumping your head and sustaining a season-ending concussion is bad. The RED Hi-Fi Subwoofer Helmet does the former while preventing the latter. The Hi-Fi helmet's 3.5mm connector works with your iPod, MP3 player, and those things from the nineties … ahh … CD players. The Hi-Fi Audex Subwoofer Helmet's ultralight construction won't make you feel like you're wearing a bowling ball. The Zip Clip ratcheting buckle provides a custom fit, and it's easy to use with gloves on. A removable goggle gasket (a strip of fabric between the helmet rim and your goggles) prevents the gaper look and forehead frostbite. *Available for US Shipment Only. - Fall 2008.

Bottom Line: Strap on the Red Hi-Fi for feather-light, comfortable head protection and quality sound.

I already have a Hi-Fi and am thoroughly convinced its the best helmet ever, warm, comfortable, and lots of coverage. I already have the skullcrusher headphones and they are the best headphones ever made my man, big booming bass and clear highs and mids. Why did it take me so long to get this perfect fusion? I have no clue

there are some problems however, this is the redesigned Hi-Fi, it looks but does not feel or fit like previous years!...thats important people, because the fit is significantly smaller, about a half size (so if you are between sizes or plan on wearing a beanie under then order a size up), it also fits a lot narrower than pervious Hi-Fis

another problem that results form this is that the subwoofer earpads are NOT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE with previous years hi-fis, which sucks because thats what I got it for!!! ahhhhhh!

but now for the good parts; improvements from last years hi fi are that the earpads are much easier to remove, the brow doesnt go as ridiculously far down your forehead so I cant fit more goggles (larger goggles), and I feel it fits better...as for the subwoofer, is amazing, sound is so great and theres a 2 stage mute button!...put a little pressure on it to mute the sound till you release it, or press it down all the way to mute the music completely and then press it again to get your tunes back. that will be so nice for the lift rides volume control does not work and both cannot be operated effectively with gloves on. the earpads are also surprisingly comfortable.

the original Hi-Fi was perfect, now with a few tweaks its even more perfect, grab one to rattle your ears and protect your dome and you wont be sorry

(p.s. black color is matte black not polished as the picture shows)

For sure! They will tuck inside the shell lip of the helmet nicely without giving you a crazy gaper gap!

Do you wear your goggle strap over your helmet or under? If you wear it under you may have a lil' more of a challenge with the ears flaring as the EG.5's straps mount to the exterior of the Electric frame. If over style, your dialed!

Sound is great, so is the fit, I think i have an average size head, small was my size and the size chart was spot on for me although I did get to try one on b4 i ordered mine. now my only issue is my oakley wisdoms are too large to work but the crowbars i ordered should be fine, but thats on the goggles not the brain bucket, its cool cuz i can hear my tunes as well as i can ask and i feel a bit safer from little meat torpedos and my not so rare spills in the park

Best looking helmet

By:
December 15, 2008

This helmet actually looks good compared to many other bowling balls people wear on their heads. This helmet would also protect you in a major wipe-out as well. The audio quality is very nice! I have no cons for this helmet!

Good sound big helmet

By:
December 3, 2008

The sound on this helmet is super awesome. The sub woofer is a very nice addition and the mute/volume keys are ver convenient. The one downfall is this helmet is way big. It is very lite but when getting in and out of a full gondola your head feels huge. I would recommend checking this helmet out in person before purchasing to make sure you are ok with the size.

I can almost see the helmet go through one fall, then the audio stops working.

So long as you're not running into a tree branch ear first or pissing off skiers, these puppies are pretty bomber.

actually, the audio system is pretty solid - i've got it on the mutiny helmet...and actually i destroyed myself on a kicker at breck last season by overshooting the landing by like 15 feet...and the helmet cracked but the audio was still solid...also, red replaced the helmet for free so it wasn't even a big deal haha

Left Ear Pad

By:
May 5, 2009

Unlike its opposite, this control is actually very very useful. Press the mute button down with a little pressure and music will mute untill you let it go. Press it down all the way and it acts as a toggle switch (mute on/off)...is semi-easy to operate with gloves on but you will need to memorize exactly where the button is.

Right Ear Pad

volume control, virtually useless. This volume control only controls the highs and mids, so even with it turned all the way down, you still hear the bass!...what!?! haha...oh and its impossible to press the buttons with gloves on.
