Ride Machete Snowboard - Wide

The Ride Wide Machete Snowboard cuts down the competition anywhere on the mountain. Ride’s new LowRize Rocker keeps you screaming hook-free down the mountain by bringing a flat profile through the center of the board that lifts out of the snow just enough to keep you going. This combined with the Radial BlendZ sidecut gives you a smooth slide without sacrificing pop, allowing you to go from backcountry booters to buttery boxes with ease.

  • Fusion 4000 Base keeps up your speed while adding durability
  • Inspired by skate, 85A Sidewalls absorb impacts from big drops
  • Performance-tuned core provides a balance of strength and reduced weight while adding pop
  • Carbon Array 3 distributes power to give you total board control in every stance
  • Cleave Edge offers nearly 50% more steel, delivering unmatched resistance to edge cracking

Bottom Line: Cut through the mountain, anywhere, anytime.

I'm stuck between the Machete 161W and the 164W. I'm 6'1" / 195 lbs. Mostly doing mountain riding and some park. I like the design (color) of the 161 much more then the red in the 164. How much of a difference in 3 cm's going to make?

Alright its definetly time for a new board and ive been looking at the Ride Crush and the Ride Machete or even the JibTech Skate Banana suggestion between the three? Ive also been rockin the same burton 163 for 5 years and ive made the transition to the park and its too stiff and bulky to get real technical so im looking to downsize...im 6'2" about 175-180 would I be alright with a 159 or even a 157?

skate banana - no doubt..one of the most fun boards i've ever ridden AND because of it's reverse banana tech it'll float like crazy in powder which means you actually could downsize to a 157 because you're looking for a park/jib board..plus for those massive pow days you've still got the floaty 163 in your quiver

For sure, I'm the same size and I ride a 159 all over the mountain. Depending on what you're looking to focus on you could ride a 157 but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're getting three different boards for different conditions/riding. Having said that, you can do it- it just might limit you on a powder day.

Best Rocker, Reverse Camber Board for 2010

By: Dogfunk.com Employee
July 17, 2009

The main problem with Rocker/Reverse camber is that you sacrifice effective edge, which in turns limits your ability to carve. The best way to describe it is that you feel like your effective edge is only as long as your stance is wide.

Why is that bad? When you go to initiate a turn you need to shift your weight forward to flatten out the nose of your board to get the contact point down and initiate the turn. While you're in the turn, when you shift your weight to hold the turn or to start to exit the turn the nose of the board tends to come up, giving you that washy/unstable feeling.

Another problem is the lack of pop in the nose and tail, you simply cannot ollie like you are used to. You have to focus the energy just being your binding to generate enough force to spring, even with that you still don't get the same amount of pop. People give me shit about this saying that it's like doing it on a skateboard and it's not a big deal, but I'm a really bad skater and I'm not looking to get that kind of feel when I ride.

Saying that, Ride has some solid contributions to the technology for 2010. What Ride has done for years that other companies are just starting to jump on with is Carbon Array. Having the carbon run from the binding inserts out to the contact points, but no carbon running tip to tail causing the entire board to stiffen up. What this does for rocker is it keeps the board flat during turns and as you shift your weight to hold the turn or exit the turn the nose doesn't come up and cause a washing unstable feeling. The new Radial Blendz sidecut also allows for smooth transition from the flat section of the board to the rockered sections providing more stability during turns and at higher speeds.

Having the Carbon Array in their boards with Rocker is also a huge advantage as it keeps the nose and tail poppy. You don't have to focus your ollie just behind your binding like you do with other Rocker/Reverse camber boards. The energy trasmission through the carbon array allows for you to ollie like you would on a regular camber deck.

I haven't been a huge fan of Rocker/Reverse Camber, but the machete has changed my mind and is def. a board that I will be adding to my 2010 Quiver. If you were a size 10.5 or smaller, check out the regular model of this board as you don't need the extra width. Also, Ride has done some great videos this year that are worth checking out if you want more info about their product.

Hey bro! I also have an 11.5 Burton Moto.....I have an exact width that you need to look at. Since I am also a big footed rider the MINIMUM WAIST WIDTH that I look at is 24.8(248mm). If it is smaller than that you will drag your heels and toes. I don't know how many boards I have gone through to tell you that but it's the truth! Take care and board safe homie!

I want to get a board that will kill it in the park, but still be decent shredding the rest of the hill. I'm tied between the Machete and the Capita Horrorscope...I feel like the machete might be a bit too stiff for what I want. I don't know which one to go for?!

I need a board that is flexible enough for me to do park, but

I need a board that is flexible enough for me to do park, but when i want to straighten out down the mountain, i need stability for the speed. I ride in PA, and i want to buy either this deck or the Ride Crush... Any suggestions?

**edit**
Also, i have an 11 size foot and am more comfortable riding a 156cm

The machete can practically slay the whole mountain. It would definately be the best choice for you. For size 11 boots, you should probably get the 157 wide. You can't go wrong with this board.
