Do you remember 1985? Neither do we. Luckily the Rome Artifact 1985 Snowboard won't try to give us a history lesson. This snappy-as-hell Rome jib stick is all about taking your freestyle riding into the future. Or something. A flat camber profile between the bindings gives you stability for sketchy run-ins, while reverse camber at the tip and tail makes for buttery presses and dialed 5-0s. Rome threw in Reverse-V glass stringers for added pop, and used Bronze Edges to beef up durability.
Reverse-Jib Camber has a flat profile between the bindings and 5mm reverse camber from the bindings to the contact points for jibbing control and easy-to-press feel
True Twin shape for switch
Pop Core matrix reduces weight and provides a consistent flex
StraightBiax Laminate for mellow flex
Bronze Edges won’t catch and resist cracking
Jib Bevel to minimize hangups on rails, boxes, and ledges
Some hook it up! I just bought this board today offline 156 gimme a siick review, i like gettin all steezy on jibs but i equally like hittin the booters in the park. I can spin and land i usually catch edges n peel off but i dtune my edges so its a lil smoother n softer, easier to pivot while turning in the trees n sliding.
Is this board gonna hook it up with hittin booters? I aint extreme hittin the 50 plus step up... but i do like the average 30 40 footers etc
hey im 5.6 135 pounds and 14 still growing and i like my boards s little bit longer so would the 153 be a good siz????? and how is the reverse camber on this board since its jib reverse camberunlikew the banana the other board im looing at not sure which is a better choice... how it is powder also???
With your weight (the most important factor when choosing size in a board) you could get away with either the 147, 150 or 153. Sure there's a big difference between those three sizes. So, as you stated you like to ride powder AND you're still growing- eliminate the 149cm. Now, which will you be riding more, Pow or park? If the answer is park, go with the 150, 153 if you like pow more. The 153 will still be able to hit rails and jumps just fine, so don't be afraid to choose this bigger size. As far as camber goes Rome puts it like this " A flat profile between the feet and 5mm reverse camber from inserts to contact points for locked-on rail tricks and a buttery, easy-to-press feel". Comparing that to Lib's Skate Banana which is rocker between the feet and flat underneath, you can imagine how different it might feel. The important part is that your contacts points will be out of the snow unless you're on edge. The Artifact is a fun board, ride it and see why many are buying this board year after year. Hope that helped.
I have had one full season on this deck and I am impressed. I ride mostly backcountry powder and park. I wanted a playful board that can ride anything, and this delivers. Reverse camber is absolutely epic in deep powder, it keeps the nose up and eliminates having to lean on your back leg.
As for jibbing, nothing competes. The board slides like buttah on any surface from natural wood to plastic with no hang ups to date. The flex is bordering on extreme. I totally agree with everyone saying its not for anything 50+ or hard landings, way to flexy. I even have fun shredding groomers, this type of deck can turn any day, any snow condition, any size mountain into a fun time. Worth checkin out.
i really want a flexy board this year..im around 5'11-6'0 my friend and i are probably both gonna get this board..but he is getting the 153 and i am getting the 156...does those 3cm make a big difference in how flex it is gonna be
i am 6'4 and i use the 156 ride kink and its perfect for me, so if you are an experience rider, and likes to do some park mainly jumps i would go smaller, the flex also depends on where you stance is this is a good board though i would suggest it
Hey guys I'm looking for a soft rev-camber park deck that wont suck if i take it outside the park once in a while. If I keep the bronze edges sharp, will this board hold its own?
check out the capita horrorscope. Its a awesome park board super flexy cuz of the rocker and skate kicks. It can hold a pretty good edge, but don't forget any soft board won't hold up that much at high speeds.
check out the k2 www rocker. it is extremely flexy and seems to do allright outside of the park too. i had the oportunity to ride both the artifact 147 and a www 148 this past seaon. i liked the k2 alot better.
im 5 10 and 195 lbs. i already ordered it... anyone out there of similar stature that rides a lot of park that had/has this board or know someone who rides one? thanks happy jibbin
I have last years, 147, im 5'11 and it works just fine for me. i added new bolt holes to i can max the stance way out. this board is amazing for everything, and it has really helped progress my riding. it is the flexiest board i have ever felt. the only thing i would say is that it is kind of limiting for landing bigger jumps because it just flexes out from under you.
the shop at big white did it for 10$. its just a countersunk insert so you would need to drill a small hole all the way through, then a larger hole half way up from the bottom then the insert gets epoxied in, and you glue a new circle of ptex on. as i didnt have any tools at big white i was pretty stoked that it only cost 10$.
these are nearly identical in construction. with the 1985, the tips are slightly stiffer, which equals slightly more pop. They really do ride differently, but I would say all in all the regular artifact feels a little softer.
The 150 is perfect for someone your size. However, you might be limited by the stance options as far as how wide you go- but I doubt it. my brother is the same size and rides a 147 and he just kills it in the park and has no problem keeping up with me on the groomers but does have a bit of a problem in powder.
im torn between this and the cheaptrick i think...im wanting a good flexin board for the park but one that can handle a few runs on the slope if needed???
this can handle anything you have throw at it. I ride the WHOLE mountain, and have put 25 full days in this deck so far. Hasn't let me down in the least.
My cousin and I both have the Artifact 1985. It's great on the park. It's alright in powder. Him and I have both bombed down slopes on the board and it feels pretty good. Hope that helps your decision
