Salomon SP3 Snowboard Binding - 2005

The Salomon SP3 Snowboard Binding is a top-notch freestyle performer, ready for the sickest rail or biggest gap. With a fiberglass-reinforced baseplate, the SP3 gives you solid edge control to dig in when the pipe is icy. Dampening pads in the baseplate reduce shocks on rough terrain and provide a soft landing after big jumps. Fast Fit toe straps with aluminum ratchets can be worn over the top or around the front of your boot, increasing support where you like it. Next time you log some frequent-flyer miles, make sure you're strapped into the SP3.

Not that great

The toe piece gets snow jammed in it easily and makes it extremely hard to ratchet down and loosen. I had to use a little screwdriver to get all of the hardened snow out of the ratchet part in order for me to be able to tighten it. It got annoying doing it over and over again throughout the day.

Worst bindings ever

When I walked into my local shop for bindings last season, the guy showed me to these and they seemed to be functional, especially with the toe strap. Ever since I made this purchase, I've had nothing but trouble. On cold days, the toe strap mechanism locks up. The high back is uncomfortable no matter what. Save your money and buy either Unions (the Airblaster bindings next year are sweet!), Rides, or the Rome bindings.

These bindings are very good for the money. I’ve been riding them for a season now and so far they have performed well. They are easy to buckle because the toe strap is permanently connected so you don’t need to line them up. I give them a 4 because they sometimes get sticky and hard to unbuckle.
