The Vans skate team pooled all of their creativity to collectively design the Men's Chukka Low Skate Shoe. That's why it's such a simple design. The less-is-more concept applied to these classic kicks means long-lasting quality due to lack of excessive frills and unnecessary extras. A waffle sole improves board feel and adds cushioning to your landings and long skate sessions, while their light weight makes you feel like you're skating barefoot (which we don't recommend).
Bottom Line: Sometimes simple is better duh, right guys? Now back in your cages.
Great feel on the board. Thin shoe, so it'll wear down faster than your thicker, more padded skate shoe. Hybrid of your typical DC skate shoe and your thin Converse originals.
Vans has always made a quality product that gets better as you wear them so I guess it all depends on what you mean by last. The Van Chukka Low is a Vulcanize Rubber which is durable and will stand the wear and tear of everyday use. The upper on the shoe is usually a canvas. If you are using these to skate, the grip tape will wear a hole in the canvas but make these have that worn in look that people like. For day to day use and just something to wear around the Chukka Low is a great choice. I have about 5 pairs of Vans and have had some pairs for years.
The Van Chukka Low is usually made of a canvas or heavy fabric material. They are not leather so they will not last as long as a leather shoe would. Don't let that frighten you. They won't rip but they will get holes in them, especially in the ollie area. The holes are cool though and add a nice worn look to the shoe. I highly recommend the Chukka Low.
Yes we do. The Vans Chukka Low in Grey/White just arrived. We don't have an image yet but feel free to purchase it in the size you need. We have men's sizes 8-13.
I really like these shoes and most of my friends wear vans. The only pear that i've ever had was the striped slip-ons and i never skated in those anyways so i'd like to know about how long they last on the board? I also wear size 10 in dvs and i've heard that vans tend to run big so should i get a size 9.5 or 10?
Vans usually have the tendency to run about a half size big. I wouldn't be afraid to buy the Chukka Low 11.5 though. I have a pair of the Manchester in the same size as my vans and the fit is very similar.
Great if your on a budget, but BEWARE padding is lacking, toe region rips very fast, and spreads rapidly, grip wears out in a matter of days, and such a low profile design my ankles were soooo bruised.
Although the price is nice, the board feel is amazing, you should take these points into consideration. Great for Chillin, Sub-Par for skating (for me).
I read Jeeman's review and I'm thinking of getting a pair of these. I wear and 11 normally so do i want to go down to a 10.5 or 10. How much should i size down?
I have been skating for well too long. Anyway the best way to make vans last longer than your third week is to pre glue all of the seems. So where your board is going to hit the seems put a dab of super glue on there. Not enough to throw your board out of wack but enough to hold the seems tight. Also always be sure to put a little extra glue where the rubber meets the leather.
Great sneakers, super comfy. I usually wear a 11.5/12 but i got these in a 10.5 because I found them to run a little big. I got them in seafoam and theyre great I love them especially for only 50 bucks. I don't skate in them, but if I did I can tell theyd get ripped up pretty quickly, the vulcanized sides are detaching from the bottoms in the back a little bit already and i've had them for only a couple weeks.
One of the best skate shoes on the market. Waffled sole, comfy, durable and long lasting. This is my second pair and the the Chukka Low is a killer shoe for skating.
If you are looking for a shoe to last a long time skating, this is not the one. But they are really comfortable to just cruise in and the are really great for long boarding.
