Vans UY Jacket - Men's - 2008

Vans made the Men’s UY Jacket for the rider who spends every minute on the snow. This DWR-coated Gore-Tex two-layer shell keeps you dry even if you decide to throw a yard sale in three feet of fresh. Fully taped seams and a waist gaiter improve your chances of staying dry, and articulated elbows improve your chance of nailing that five you’ve been working on. Throw up the adjustable ‘biggie’ hood in blizzards, and use the UY Jacket’s audio interface to turn on your powder mix. Vans added an optics pocket, hand-warmer pockets, and a pass pocket.

This jacket crushes anything else made by a snowboarding company. You actually will stay dry. Burton AK 3L is a joke in comparison. Only flaw: the Velcro on the cuffs is pretty weak, and tends to come loose if you go starfish-ing down the hill. 4 PBR tall boys fit in the pockets :)

The UY doesn't try to be something it's not. Some of the color patterns might be flashy, but don't doubt the useability of this jacket. It's not some BS outerwear that looks sick and performs like it has a cold. It's light, and with a 20k/20mm rating, snow is NOT ever an issue. This thing is for real. The only thing that would have put this sucker into the stratosphere would be a few more pockets. Ultimately however, it's pluses FAR outweigh one minus. BUY IT!

What up Jeremy, because this piece is a Gore-tex shell with no insulation, it won't likely stand up to freezing temps. My experience with Gore-tex is that though it's totally waterproof and extremely breathable, the material is thin and doesn't keep you very warm.
