Never Froze!

I got these boots last year in a different color and I loved them so much I am back online to order another pair in this black and white color! I live in Colorado and I have never been cold once...and I stood outside for long amounts of time watching snowboarding events. Maybe don't wear so many socks... it makes your feet sweat and then you freeze!

Just Amazing Boots

I was hesitant at first to purchase the burgandy color because I was afraid they would be a darkish red. When I received them I couldn't have been more impressed the color is more of a reddish eggplant which I love. I found them to fit true to size but were a little stiff to break in. Once you break them in they are amazing in both the snow and the rain. They were warm and never leaked like so many boots do. That being said as far as I'm concerned they are a must have and look great on! Deffinately pick them up!

Ranger green sorel 1964 boots

I bought these boots for stomping around in the snow and puddles this spring. I live in Bozeman MT so we have lots of it. These boots are awesome! I love that they are weather proof and cute at the same time. They run a big and roomy all around. After a few times of wearing them, they fit perfectly. i would buy these boots again.

Sorel 1964 Pac Boot

I took a trip to Durango, CO last year with different Sorel boots and loved them. They were warm and very comfortable. I recently purchased the 1964 Pac Boots. We went to the Grand Targee Ski Resort in WY and again these boots exceded my expectations. Adorable, warm and true to size.

Not for Alaska

I ordered these for my trip to Alaska for the Iditarod. They walk like ski boots. Kinda clunky. The upside was there was plenty of room for layers of socks. However, with 3 layers of socks my feet got cold after an hour outside. I think I should have had feet warmers but these are rated for -25 so i didn't think warmth should have been an issue and it was. Good for getting to and from places but not long exposure of cold.

Wearing three pairs of socks may have been your error. When you pile that many layers on your feet, it constricts the blood flow leaving your feet cold. You only need one pair of high quality wool socks to keep your feet warm.

Responded on

3 pairs of socks will not only slow down circulation from the tightness but also forces the extra air out of your thick socks that is needed for insulation. If you layer socks it forces the air out of the fabric. Part of the reason wool is so warm is that it has pockets of air that keep you warm.

Order up or down? Who knows!

I'm a size 8 and a half, and I ordered these half a size down based on some reviews, not seeing that *other* reviews said to order half a size UP. They were too small, and since I bought them on Steepandcheap I couldn't exchange them for another pair. I was really excited to get these boots and so bummed when they finally arrived. They seemed super warm, but honestly I wasn't impressed with the tread on them anyway, so maybe I didn't really miss out.

happy camper

i got the tivoli's first, but they didn't meet expectations. i think because they were too cutesy and felt like there was a heel and a little too short. i wanted boots that were more rugged for snow shoeing and tredging in deep snow. the pacs were great - loved the comfort, warmth, and look!

Too clunky

I tried to like these boots because they are very warm and solid feeling, but they are just TOO heavy and wide and chunky.

cute but

liked the look of the boot, but found that they were a bit clunky to walk in. also ordered a size 9 (normally wear a 9.5) based on some other reviews, but found they were just on the small side. ended up returning them.

Great shipping, Great product, Great Experience

Bought these boots for my sister for Christmas. The boots arrived in just a couple of days. My sister absolutely loved those boots. They looked great and fit well. She wears between 9 - 9 1/2 size shoe. I was able to purchase a 9 with no issue. I was very nervous about the fit. I recommend this boot and purchasing from backcountry.com.

If you are looking for warmth these boot provide. I returned mine because they were so cumbersome and clunky. If you are looking for agility don't look here.

I got these boots and they are super cute and true to size. I got a pair of red and black laces for them to spice them up and they look awesome. They are bulky but they kick butt in the snow. I would definately recommend these!

Sorta Recommended

These boots are great for snow, slush and such. It took me a while to get used to them though because there is a lot of excess room over the top of the foot where the bow of your shoelaces would be on a sneaker. This makes them feel clumsy and clunky but they do the job and my feet are dry.

Great boots

I ordered these boots a couple of months ago in ranger serene green. Normally wear a size 7.5 so I ordered these boots in 8. They were to big. I exchanged them for a size 7 which fit nicely. Customer service was great- the exchange went very smoothly, fast shipping! I live in Wisconsin so these boots have been used a lot already. They keep my feet very warm and they are waterproof. They are very functional and cute!

I bought these boots for my daughter. She loves them. She got 1/2 size larger. Boots are warm and dry.

Attractive but need to be worn in

These boots look absolutely great and are waterproof.

I bought a Ranger/Serene Green size 10 for my 9.5W feet.

The issue I'm having with them might be something that changes once they've been worn in, but these boots rub my heel very roughly. I'm having trouble convincing myself to wear them in because it rubs so much.

I will write another review if I can get them to behave, but so far I'm kind of disappointed with the fit of the heel and absolutely in love with the look.

Good boots, but they run wide

These boots are great- they feel really sturdy and definitely keep my feet warm and dry. They're a little wide- I ordered a half size down and I'm glad I did.

Could anybody tell me what's the lowest...

Could anybody tell me what's the lowest temperature these boots are rated too? Also, would these be any good for snowshoeing?

Also, I'm tossing between the caribou and the 1964 Pac, and the only difference I can see between the two (apart from "looks") is that the caribou sole has a different grip/tread. Is that the only difference? Having said that, would the 1964 Pac sole/tread still be suitable for "off-road" walks/gentle hikes (nothing too hard core but not paved street). Or would I have to defer to the caribou? (The Pac is just so much cuter, thus I'd probably wear it more...)

Ahhh, I've noticed another possible difference. Although both have a removable 9mm innerfelt boot, the caribou's is described as Thermoplus felt, while the Pac's is described as recycled felt. But they are both rated to -40C/F so what's the deal there... Different wording? Or is the caribou's insulation better?

Finally, is the stated weight of 650g for one boot (as I assume) or the pair?

Responded on

They are rated to -40°F/C. They are super comfortable and waterproof, but they are heavy to a lot of people, so while you can definitely use them for snowshoeing, you may get worked much quicker than you'd like.

Responded on

Adela- The Caribu's weight about 5 ounces more than the Pac's. The Caribu also has a deeper tread on its sole, making it slightly better for off-road hikes. The Pac's don't grip as well in icy areas either. Here is the difference between the two liners:

"ThermoPlus® InnerBoots: Pioneered by Sorel in 1993 after extensive field testing. ThermoPlus® InnerBoots provide superb warmth, moisture transfer, comfort, and durability. An advanced four-layer construction wicks perspiration from the foot, maximizes thermal insulation, and reflects body heat back to the foot for a warm, dry foot "climate".

1. Soft, short loop polyester Minktex® (green inner layer) maximizes contact to quickly wick perspiration from the foot.
2. Black polypropylene core insulates and facilitates wicking process.
3. Radiantex® foil reflects body heat back to the foot.
4. Polyester/viscose blend (camel outerlayer) insulates and stores moisture away from the foot.

Washable/Recycled InnerBoots: Pre-consumer recycled polyester. Ideal for children's boots where InnerBoots are exposed to excessive dirt and perspiration. A unique two-layer construction wicks moisture from feet and provides excellent insulation."

Cute and Warm!

I bought these boots this winter and they were just what i needed. They are high enough to keep the snow out, warm and even cute for a heavy duty snow boot!

I have owned and loved a pair of white...

I have owned and loved a pair of white Sorels since two days after I moved to Canada in 1982, They're still going strong, but they're dirty grey, and have black streaks in places. I've tried scrubbing them with hot water and soap to no avail. Any thoughts on how to get them clean again?

Responded on

I hate to say it, but you probably just need to buy a new pair.
