Description

Made to keep your feet warm and dry in cold, wet conditions.

Hike down an icy trail or use them with your snowshoes; either way, you'll be plenty warm in the Sorel Women's Caribou Boot. Rated to -40F, the Caribou Boot is built from a waterproof full-grain leather upper attached to a vulcanized rubber bottom. Metal shanks across the heel and ball of your foot give you sturdy footing across uneven terrain. The Caribou Boot is waterproof, and the 9mm ThermoPlus felt liner is removable, so you can dry them out between uses.

awesome boots but runs large!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

super warm, but I'm usually a 7.5-8.5 and the 7's fit well, I could actually almost do a 6.5, but they don't do half sizes. I got them in the buff and they look good with a lot of stuff and especially good for snowy, cold days!

Cracking

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My first pair of Sorels, purchased in the mid 80's, lasted me twenty years. I bought more wool liners every few years, but the boots lasted me through 20 winters, most of those winters in Minnesota. I bought this Caribou Sorel boot in Dec of 2010 & the rubber on the top side is cracking open! This never happened to my original pair even after 20 years of wear! I am very disappointed!

Great quality, Runs Big

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Gave this as a gift to my girlfriend, she lived the product but it was about 2 sizes too big on her. She's a 6.5/7 and we ordered a 7. Make sure you order a size down. She loved the product and style so we're going to exchange (hopefully if they have the size) to a smaller one.

Classic Style and Warmth

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

I purchased these as a gift and the Sorel brand never fails to disappoint. Really warm, comfortable and stylish, these boots are perfect for the winter months. They keep your feet warm on the coldest of days and are comfortable enough to wear the entire day.
The waterproof leather comes in handy when your inner child comes out to play and can't resist jumping in a few puddles.

Slips on ice

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

whatever you do, do NOT go outside and test these boots! I wanted to know if they would slip on ice (which they did) and my $ was not refunded--store credit. They cited "dirt" as the reason. I literally walked onto on my front porch. Brush it off! Disappointing.

Like snowmobiles, for your feet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Having just moved out West it was obvious I needed new boots to weather the winters whether it be shoveling snow, trotting around town, or a stroll through the woods. After reading Sorel's record of quality and warmth I invested in these and am very happy. They run a bit large and therefore feel a little clunky, but have withstood the freezing cold and snow amazingly. Plus everyone in the West seems to own a pair so there's no risk of a fashion faux pas. Definitely won't be my last pair of Sorel's.

Durable winter wear

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

My wife was in desperate need of a warm and dry winter boot with some solid traction. Sorel to the rescue. The Sorel Caribou Boot is rated to -40F (not that she will ever need that level of protection) and has kept her feet out of the harsh weather even when going out into a storm is unavoidable. The best part of all is the traction. As a pregnant woman she is wary of slipping on ice in the winter months, but the Sorel's durable nub tread has kept her safe every step of the way,

LOVE THESE

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These boots have been treating me right for over 5 years! Still in pretty good condition, and never fail to keep my feet warm and dry. I wear a size 7.5 in shoes normally, and the size 8 in these sorels fit me perfect!

Quality has gotten worse.

My dad has a pair of Caribous that have been awesome for 15 years. I bought mine 1.5 years ago and they are falling apart. Made in China now. I wear them almost every day in the winter, and the soles have lasted. But the liners have ripped and the rubber part on the top/inner part of both boots have holes (the big toe knuckle area, if that makes sense). Look into other winter boots, because these are great at first but just don't last.

size issues--seems everyone has

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got my regular size and they are huge! Wish there were 1/2 sizes available. I thought they'd be okay with bulkier socks--but the lining is so thick your feet will cook with thick socks.
That being said--I do like them and they are holding up in the mountain snow.

Bulky but warm

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This boot is a bit big in size, I'm a size 6 but could of went with a size 5. Extremely warm and a bit heavy to walk in.

These boots have a 1.5" heel height and 9.5" boot shaft height, so they would come to your lower-mid calf.

BEST BOOTS!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been wearing Sorel boots since I was a young girl. Living out West - these are a MUST for the winter season. These boots are extremely durable and will last for years. I just bought a new pair to replace the ones I've had for nearly 10 years! These are the best boots, period.

Great winter boot but very bulky

These boots are warm, waterproof, and a classic winter boot. That being said, I find them VERY bulky, so consider ordering a half to full size smaller than you otherwise might. Also, the inner-lining slips out every time I take them off, which is annoying. Otherwise, a very dependable winter boot!

Clunky but a keeper.

I bought these boots for my girlfriend and she can be picky. They are a little bulky, but what good winter boot isnt? At first she wasnt very happy with the size, but once she started stomping around in the snow hiking, she fell in love with shoe and getting outside with some snow on the ground.

Warm Fuzzy Goodness

I absolutely love this boot. I was a Lifty at Alta Ski Area this past winter, so these boots definitely were "field tested". My feet stayed super warm and the traction was amazing on snow and ice. The one downside is the laces don't stay tied all the time, but that's a simple fix with a double knot- or just different laces. Sorel's will last forever!! Very durable- after the season my boots still look brand new. Word of Advice- buy a size or 1/2 size bigger than you need. The insole will pop out easily if the boot is too tight (which isn't that big of a deal, and as the boot wears in the insole begins to stay). Also, a size up will give you room to layer your feet with nice warm socks if you're planning on being in the cold for a few hours.

So happy

I got my boots in a size up, which I had to return and get the size smaller. That said, I love my boots! I'm form a warm climate and went to Chicago in the recent snow. They keep my feet warm and dry and were super cute. I got compliments from the locals!

Is there a Sorel style boot that isn't big and clunky? I'm small and need to be able to lift my legs when I walk lol. Thanks

Responded on

Yes, there are .. but, if you want the same level of insulation, then maybe not. Some of the Tivoli models offer light insulation and a lower profile. Also, check out Cate the Great, and the Joan of Arctic boots. Again, these won't be as warm as the Caribou. Hope this helps you, Mary.
