is it warm enough or does it need a lot of layers underneath on blizzard days
I have alway been a big fan of layering. With this coat i would have a lightweight and mid-weight option underneath.
Looks sick and has some pretty cool features. Blood/big stripes is the way to go, it isnt slim fit or way to baggy, its just right. The freedom fit works for everyone.
I got this Jacket with the intent of using it when spring skiing isn't quite t-shirt weather on the mountain, but my insulated jacket is too much. This is perfect for this purpose. I have 3 days lift served through spring conditions and the jacket has beaded off moisture from crashes and is breathable enough to stay comfortable enough even in the spring sun. As it warms up later in the day or as you're waiting in a lift line, the pit zips are the perfect little bit of extra venting. I even used this jacket in an attempt on climbing a 14er in Colorado with the intent of skiing down and it held up well on the windy ridge above treeline.
As far as features go, the pockets are big enough for a PB and J and any other things you might need on an average day out, and the hood is big enough to fit over my helmet well enough. The one thing I would change would be wrist gaiters like the ones in my other jacket where there is a thin lycra layer with a hole for your thumb so snow doesn't end up your sleeves if you fall hard enough, but this is a minor problem.
Bottom line: great shell jacket perfect for spring skiing, layering year round or even on back country adventures.
I am about 215 lbs and 6 feet and I wear a large comfortably.

South Beach/Big Stripe Jacket
This is a sick jacket. I just got it and it is just as cool in the picture as in real life. It is worth the money.
