Description

Stack ‘em up, roll ‘em out

The Stacker is a standby for hauling whitewater kayaks on your roof rack. Evolved considerably from its beginnings as an undistinguished vertical loop, the Thule Stacker now has a separate upper bridge that makes it easy to tie your boats down. The Stacker holds up to four boats and folds down for a cleaner look and reduced wind profile when not in use.

Perfect product!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love the stacker! I was hesitant when I bought it because it's meant for white water kayaks, and I own a 10' Pelican recreational kayak & 16' Perception touring kayak. I've used the stacker several times now and the kayaks not only fit very nicely, but are very very secure. The rachet straps that are supplied with the stacker work perfectly.

Of course because my kayaks are deeper than white water kayaks, I can only fit two boats on my roof rack (on a Jeep Grand Cherokee), but that's exactly what I wanted the stacker for. No more shoving one boat in the back & one on the roof :)

I'd like to carry 2 kayaks in the bed of a pickup. If I mount a roof rack system in the bed of my pick up then use the Stacker or J mounts, do you think it's worth my time? I'll be carrying 2 13' kayaks.

Easy to use

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Used this for several years for white water, and open water kayaks and everything in between, Done two cross country trips with a kayak strapped on it with no issues at all. (even in very windy conditions) They are easy to install wit one person, fold flat when not in use, and on my Subaru Impreza with Thule bars I can easily lift up kayak and strap it on by myself with these. I have putt 5 kayaks on my car with these (though not recommended). nice when not in use fold down or easy to take off and store at home. would buy again

Just got back from a trip to the Lower Yough and the first extended use of the Stacker Carrier. Worked flawlessly!

Great Little Rack

I've got two whitewater kayaks up on it. Holds the things solid as a rock. I just did 500miles with them up there and didn't worry about them the entire way.

Jeep Grand Cherokee with a standard roof rack.

My only gripe is that you need to be nimble to attach things to it, in that I have to pretty much get up on the roof.

I used a couple of swim noodles as cushions and they work great.

I've used J-racks before, and I would say this is as comprable to them and I think in the kayaks sit as snug.

This is an awesome value rack.

I have a 2011 Chevy Traverse with the standard roof racks.
What Thule Kayak mount would work the best for two Hobie 16 foot adventure Kayaks? We always have two people to lift them on the top of the vehicle. So I'm looking for a safe easy way to secure them.
Could some one give me the model that is user friendly. Thanks Dave

What is the size range of stock crossbars that this will go on? My bars on my 1996 Subaru Impreza are about 4 inches wide and relatively thick? Will this still work?

I have a 2010 Subaru Outback so I'm all set with the rack, but I have fishing kayaks not white water kayaks. Anyone with experience using the stacker with these type kayaks?

Best Answer Responded on

I have the stacker (different model but essentially the samething) and use it with none whitewater boats. The only issue is if your boat is particular tall...as in ground to top measurement...you may not be able to stack as many boats together. I'd say on an Outback 3 kayaks would be no problem. If this helped please Thumbs Up. Thanks.

9'8" and 9' on one side and then angle the other 9'8" on the other. I'd use an extra strap though, since it's off balance.

It's snowing like it means it! MAYBE I'LL USE THE KAYAKS FOR SLEDS! But seriously, I have a 2007 Suburban Z-71 and haul 3 Old Towns; a 10' Vapor, and a 12' and 14' Dirigo, all on top of the Suburban. I currently use a handmade rack that puts the larger ones on the bottom, and the 10 footer on the top of a "T' post, all cockpit down. I want a factory rack that makes it easier than it now is to load this Clampett rig. (Jed would be proud!) The Subibby has factory rails and cross bars. Any ideas?
I thought the stacker may be best but maybe not?

Could this be used for 3 sit on top rec boats?

Responded on

It depends on how wide your load bars are. But more than likely they will fit. Unless you drive a smart car.
