Description

Give your truck even more functionality.

Maximize the space in the bed of your truck with looking like the Beverly Hillbillies thanks to the Thile Xsporter Multiheight Truck Rack. This adjustable racking system features raising load bars that accommodate both long and compact loads. In the low position, the Xsporter makes for easy loading and unloading of bikes, skis and other gear. When raised even with the cab, the rack holds your canoes and kayaks. The durable aluminum construction requires no drilling and leaves the bed of the truck open for storage, while the One Key system secures your gear.

not bad

This rack fits my Chevy Colorado perfectly and was easy to install. Securely holds my 14' kayak and when I drove 7 hours with it up there I had no problems. One design flaw would be the way the adjustments are positioned on the uprights. The cross pieces are adjustable so there are slots in the side of the uprights to lock in the cross piece. The slots face forward and cause a whistling sound at any speed. Was thinking about trying to make a sleeve to slide over to prevent this problem because its so annoying. For the price and for the quality you would think Thule would have addressed this issue.

Hey,

Please use the configurator located at the top of the page or visit www.thule.com for any compatibility concerns.

Love It

Work;s great for me, I use it on a 08 Dodge 3500 Mega Cab. I use it for hauling ladders, wood (lots) came in real handy when building my cabin across state cause' I didn't have to haul my trailer over there, just throw it on top of the rack and away I go.....I can take them on/off in about 10 minutes.... No complaints so far, and have been using for about a year now...

I would like to mount the Xsporter on my Ford ranger. Will it come with everything I need to mount it, or do I have to buy adapters?

Works great! a little bit tall for my truck.

I have an '04 Dakota, and read that this truck was designed for compacts as well as full-sized pickups. It fits well, but does not lower all the way down. I have to keep it at the first height setting when not using it.

Raised into position, it holds my 16.5 Essence in just the right area - just forward of the cockpit and over the day hatch area. It secures the kayak when pulled tight, and has worked on 70-75mph Interstate travel.

I am using a Thule Hull-a-Port Pro with the rack system, and while it fits and holds the kayak perfectly, they did not supply the correct hardware for it. I had to purchase Thule's additional "X Adapt3" hardware kit. Oh, a kit, I thought. I thought it was odd to have to buy an optional mounting KIT to mount a Thule carrier to a Thule rack. This "kit" consists of slightly longer bolts. The Hull-a-Port Pro only came with short and medium length bolts... designed to mount their system to vehicle OEM style racks and Yamika-brand car roof racks. You would think they'd at least include the hardware for their own systems in the package.

That is my only gripe with the system as a whole. The review is based on the XSporter truck rack, and that as an individual unit has performed very well.

Does not include necessary hardware for...

I purchased this item for my pickup truck, to more easily carry my new kayak. After consulting with Backcountry.com via their instant chat, I was assured this would fit with Thule's Hull-a-port Pro kayak cradle system. It will, but you have to purchase longer bolts in the form of the "Thule XAdapt 3" for $8.95 listed here: http://www.backcountry.com/thule-xsporter-adaptors

I am pleased with the rack and saddle system, but it is a shame to have to overnight four extra-long bolts for $30 when it would have cost Thule a whopping $0.25 (retail) to include everything people would need to mount to their OWN Thule-brand systems. They include bolts for factory-made roof racks, and Yakima roof racks, but they neglect to include mounting hardware for THULE racks!

4 stars out of 5 just because it was inconvenient as hell. 5 stars for fit and function, and well made. It is very solid, and well-made. Easy to install, too, with only a 17mm socket wrench and 17mm open-end wrench.

Recommended for anyone with a pickup truck needing to carry kayaks, bicycles, etc.

Does this work on short bed truck? I have a f150 super crew with a 5.5 ft bed and the front of the bed has a retractable tonneau cover.

Fantastic!

Got this for my husband for our anniversary and he loves it! Very strong and made of quality materials. Took about 20 minutes to install but was easy to install. He has a long bed truck and it still fits nicely. Raising and lowering the bars is easy for one person. Great with cargo boxes, kayaks, hauling wood, etc.

"6000 grade anodized aluminum provides added strength to carry up to 450 pounds and resists rusting for a lifetime of functionality and great looks.."

Sorry, not sure about the sway.

This is the greatest purchase EVER!

I have this on my 8' Chevrolet Box. It has carried everything from my box, bikes, kayaks, river rafts, furniture, lumber, you name it, I have probably carried it on the Xsporter truck rack.

Fits Tacoma & Tundra rail system as well as other trucks.

It really boils down to what you need your rack to do. If you have equipment over 10' that needs to go over the cab, then this is not your option.

the truck?

Responded on

Do you have the "tie down" rail in the inside of your box? If so I don't think it will. Thule does make a different mounting clamp for the Tacoma and Tundra (XK1, XK2). This might also work for a nissan..

You may need to cut holes in your plastic liner. I work at a Rack shop in B.C. and have don it a few times. It's not to difficult

This Rack is awesome!

You could also try the L2S Sport Rack Bracket that adapt Thule & Yakima accessories. It's less expensive & a little more functional in my opinion. It fits directly onto the Toyota rail system & probably fits the Nissan as well.

I have a 2001 ford f-150 with a bed liner and a tool box how do I make this work. Will the thule Xsporter
fit without eliminating anything?

Responded on

It sits on top and around the bed rails so the bed liner should be fine, it might require trimming if its a plastic one. The tool box, depending on how wide it is might take up a lot of room and you won't be able to spread it out as far therefore reducing stability if you throw kayaks etc up there. Can you run them with the tool box? Yes but they just might not be spread far enough for your application.
