Union Danny Kass Snowboard Binding - 2009

When Danny Kass—US Open and Olympic champion—designed Union’s first true pro-model binding, sparks were flying and bystanders soiled their pants. So just imagine what you’ll be capable of in the carbon-infused Union Danny Kass Snowboard Binding. Based on the Union Contact Binding, the Danny Kass binding features the contact base for strategically reduced contact with your board, which translates into better board feel and liveliness with the reduction of the dead zones normally created by full binding-to-board contact. What’s all that scientific mumbo-jumbo mean? That you get a more natural board feel and flex, so your riding has a better chance of being remotely similar to DK’s.

  • Premium materials like Dupont Zytel ST and carbon fiber (baseplate & highback), extruded anodized aluminum (heelcup), and magnesium (buckles) ensure strength, response, board feel, durability, and an amazing weight-to-performance ratio
  • Quick-adjust forward lean gives you on-the-hill ability to adjust forward lean; tool-free size adjustment allows you to add more, or reduce length of toe ramp
  • Injected EVA bushings translate into a lighter weight, improved durability, and allow for true board flex
  • Direct connect cap strap system delivers rapid response and ergonomic comfort without the risk of pinching or pressure points
  • Honeycomb Auto-Fit EVA ankle strap reduces weight without sacrificing strength or comfort
  • Danny Kass inspired shredometer, gas pedals, and Big Vern yellow gloss that pops against the snow

Bottom Line: The Union Danny Kass Snowboard Binding—the Jordan of bindings.

i rode all last season on these puppys and shes a nice binding but i cracked the base plate after a nasty spill and you need to tighten the screws all the time if you like to butter. i would buy these again.

The only binding system that wouldnt work on your board is the burton ICS or EST. If you rock a youngblood, any of the union line would work for you. My girl picked up the milans and she loves them. I personally have these but in the CMKY colours. SUUUUUUUUPER light and does everything you want them to do. From park to pipe to groomers, youre set with these

Sick Bindings

By:
February 9, 2010

I waited a little while to write this review due to the inferior quality of previous products i thought were great and to make sure they weren't all talks and looks.... these have been nothing but the best since day one i've got over 50 days on them now and they've held up the whole time, union isn't lying when they say their bindings are bombproof. These are probably the most durable bindings you will ever own. On top of that union makes their bindings with materials that are super light. After truly seeing how light they were, my old rome 390's felt like cinder blocks. You really won't find a better binding than union, the danny kass model works great in the park or anywhere else you take it. I don't ever see myself riding non union bindings ever again because other bindings simply aren't up to the quality of union

Aren't the straps the same as the contact ones? Are these more similar to contact or to force (stiffness)?

Yes they are bec they are the contacts, just in DK's sig/pro print.I found that these give a lil more than the Forces. Its due to the strap and the playfulness of the highback. Made of mad flexy plastic, so you get the response when hittin booters or just cruisin, but are buttery when youre hittin boxes, rails etc... Ps these bindings are the shizzzzzz

Well I have a pair of '10 Contacts in CMYK print and I love them. The highback on these bad boys are a little stiffer than the ones that come on the reg Contacts. Just like Lyman said, Kass rides a lot of pipe so he needs the highback to be a lil stiffer. But they are still nice and flexy when takin them to the park or just cruisin around. Strap is suuuper cush and never feel any pinching. Lifetime warranty on baseplates. Bombproof binding!! Get them, you will not be dissapointed. Union for life!!!!

It depends of the binding you are getting, Union uses a different amount of fiberglass in the two different size bindings. If you are getting a M/L you will see about 18% fiberglass as opposed to the L/XL there will be 30%. But the stiffness of the kass binding is stiffer than most other union bindings. Danny rides the pipe and needs a really responsive binding. You could say it is about the stiffness of the Burton Cartel, but to be honest, i have not ridden the kass so i do not know for certain. Can anyone else help out?

i'm a chick and i got these cause they were out of my size in womens and i love them. the colors are pretty interesting but after a while it grows on you. super responsive and light. i agree with the other guy though, if you like toe caps don't get these ones... the fit is just weird for chicks that's why i'm not totally sold on them

solid binder

combines the contact baseplate (injected with carbon), data highback, and force straps. very compfortable and very responsive. only con is that the toe straps dont work to well as toe caps. but other than that these are great solid bindings.
