Old school lace-up skate style for the geezer in you. That’s the Vans 106 Vulcanized completing its mission, and that’s pretty much all there is to say about this clean retro kick. Well, that and the fact that it’s canvas.
I shop online sometimes but I almost never write reviews. DogFunk is great. I was not satisfied with my shoes from them and so I returned them - no questions asked, no hassle. The refund was so great it made me want to give them business so I'm buying a different pair through DogFunk.
These shoes work well for me, but I would be worried if I was a hardcore skater. they offer little cushion and support. They are very grippy which I like.
Dogfunk.com knows that no one wants the used-car-salesman experience, so we decided to show you the other guys prices in an effort to keep your shopping experience as informed as possible. We do our best to confirm this information is correct, but assume no responsibility for the accuracy of the price and shipping information provided by other vendors.
Well, any shoes is going to rip when you skate in them, it's just a matter of how long it takes to rip them. And shoe that's canvas will rip significantly faster (which is a bummer because canvas feels the best). I'd stick with something suede to last a little longer.
Check out the Vans Chukka Low. Its a very similar shape, but beefed up a bit for skating.
so iv bn rocking the Authentic core classics for about two years now and now im a frst tym buyer for these and i gotta say, i don thnk ill be going back. i love these even more than i loved those!!!!
The Vans 106 vulcanized will weigh about the same as the Era depending on the materials used. They are both offered in Canvas or Suede. The canvas styles will weigh the same and the suedes will weigh the same. The suede is heavier though.
I would buy the Vans 106 Vulc your real size or even a half size smaller. They fit slightly different from the slip on because the Upper of the shoe is cut different. The slip on is made to fit tighter with elastic so that it won't fall off the foot. The 106 laces up and offers a more classic skate shoe fit. There isn't a lot of padding to get in the way so they may fit larger an your regular style skate shoe.
You better believe it, these are way more durable than the classic slip ons (I know if your ride a skateboard you have tried skating in those) These shoes actually have a bit of padding under foot so a 8 foot drop isn't going to bruise your heel.
Great feature changing from a slip-on to a lace shoe. I still haven't kicked these over a fence trying to flick a tre flip up a step up yet. (hold strong laces!)
Write your question here...I am looking for 106 vulcanized shoe in a mens 9.5 in the grey canvas color with the purple bottom. This is for immediate purchase if anyone has them.
The Vans 106 is great for hangin, walkin, and leisuring. They're lightweight, comfy, and the canvas breathes great in the summer. But man when I skate these things, my feet take a beating. I think it's because of the mostly flat insoles or minimal padding but my insteps are super sore the next day. I guess my old man feet need a little more cush for the push. Also, the Vulc soles on these things is less grippy than I expected. I didn't feel connected to the board.
Sizing is normal Vans (sized large) - I wear a 10 in Emerica and Supras, 11 in running shoes and I wear a 10 in the Vans 106.
These shoes are my go-to shoe for...everything. I have three pairs of these and I wear them everywhere. The blucher style of these shoes fits me better than the other Vans styles due to my wide wheels, but it also makes them a lot more comfortable.
Plus, I always get compliments from the ladies when I wear them.
