Let's have a round of applause for the Encore.
Vans' top-selling boot, the Men's Encore Snowboard Boot, returns upgraded for another brilliant season. This medium-soft, Boa-equipped boot has enough versatility to spend the morning dropping cliffs at the Bird and the afternoon riding rails in the park. This year's Boa system features the series-30 reel and dial with an overmolded rubber grip, increased corrosion resistance and more durable setscrews. The Trifit center-tongue liners and EVA footbeds provide antimicrobial protection, integrated arch support, and high-rebound padding. Vans' technically advanced Pro-Flex Snowaffle Air Outsole maximizes traction and turning response without inhibiting flex and feel at the toe. The molded PU midsoles provide the highest level of impact absorption and durability, while a ¾-wrap heelclip stabilizes the foot for increased torsional rigidity. This boot's internal web harness adds an additional level of support and energy transmission. Say good-bye to heel twist and boot slop, say hello to on-demand response. Durable synthetic-leather and textile uppers with forefoot cable protection guarantee seasons of high-caliber riding in the Encore. This boot offers incredible support and response at a great price.

awesome boots : 9
wow what can i say i just bought these at the end of the 06/07 season and they are incredible. i went out twice with them so far, and right out of the box it has a been great. NO PAIN, NO heel slip, light weight like a sneaker. i cant believe how great these are. and they go great with my new flow bindings as well. its like they where all meant to be. i had 3 yr old DC's b4 these and they where good but i would always have a little pain after the 2nd run. then i would also have to re-tighten. with the new boa systems its sooooo easy. you can do it right there at the top of the run or half way down loosen it up a little for the park... i say vans encore definitely deserves an encore definitely go 1/2 size up. and get a lace protector system or be careful not to hang your board on the boots. they are soo nice you don't want to ruin them.
Vans Encore are Ok
I got the 06/07 model - it's ok. I feel that it tightens well around the leg but it doesn't keep my heel down and its tearing in some places. Maybe I should have gotten a size larger or its just wearing out. BUT THEY Look REALLY NICE
these boots do run kind of small, so make sure you order a 1/2 size larger. I like the boot, its sturdy and all, but it is VERY stiff, and after a day on the slopes, the outer edge of my right foot started to feel like it was crammed in a small shoe, just a lot of pressure. other then that the boots are light weight and good quality. If it was up to me I would get the "dual zone" boa lacing.
I've been riding for over 15 yrs. I've been through too many boots to list. I bought these in late 05. They don't suck but I imagine 06/07 would be better construction. No heel lift. No pressure points unless extended backcountry hiking, but simple pipe or kicker hiking is not an issue. Warm even with only thin ankle socks in 15 degrees. BOA is good, but may need occasional tightening of the allen key. Vans boots with non-laceup bladders rock. Comfortable and non-restricting for tweaking airs.
Personally I love these boots, not only are they reasonably priced, there super easy to tighten, get in/out of. As for the review below mine, it says he's got 05's. Thats your problem. They USED to suck. Over all now though they are super comfy, reasonably priced, and super warm out on the hill. Ive gone about 3-4 times this year already w/ these 07's.
Poor reinforcement of BOA system
I purchased these boots brand new around December of '05, rode them probably 30 to 35 days that season. The BOA knob fell off sometime during one trip, went to the store to buy another one, the tech guy saw that the leather holding the steel lace to the left and right boot was tearing off and it he said that it was obviously a manufacturer defect. After hundreds of unreturned calls and e-mails to Vans I have to buy another boot this season. I'll never buy Vans again.
