The shovel that helps you not need a shovel.

The Voile T6 Tech Shovel stows a 14-inch snow saw inside the handle to help you dig quick, precise avalanche pits to help make your backcountry day safer. Of course, the large scoop lets you move snow like crazy if you happen to be digging after a slide. Basically, this Voile shovel does everything you could want a shovel to do.

Get two birds stoned at once!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the Shovel i carry in my pack. Its great to have a saw that stows away in the shovel handle, so everything is is right there when conditions are sketch and you need to dig a pit. Versatile and efficient. Made in the USA, Voile shovels are bomber!

Hey Neil do you carry 2 saws, or how do you cut the 30-30 columns?

Great Blade, Mediocre Saw

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Facing facts: This is a shovel first, saw second. The blade and shovel work great (maybe not as good as a D-Handle) and all things considered this setup is light. It would be nice if you could have the option of carrying the saw or not but since the saw has the spring pins you need to carry it at all times. That being said it doesnt weigh very much. The saw is fairly flimsy but works great for snow (hey what else do you want) but I hope everyone talking about firwood is joking. Anyone getting a shovel should get a fullsize blade, its worth the extra weight/size. Also make sure your backpack fits the blade properly before buying it online.
If I'm buried I hope my rescuers have this shovel!

Safe, simple, saw storage

I was taking an avalanche safety course and rapidly realized that it is almost impossible to conduct decent column stability tests without a snow saw. But I really didn't like the idea of carrying another item in my pack, particularly a sharp, pointy one! This is about the only shovel on the market with a saw that stows in the handle. Blade is made of the bomber T6061 aluminum alloy of choice.

And having now dug 20 odd pits with it, I can testify that both shovel and saw are excellent. Maybe underkill for full avalanche professionals, but for most of us backcountry travelers, this is the perfect balance of size, weight, cost, function. Good stuff!

Half and half

I bought this shovel because my old one didn't fit well in my pack. Or more accurately, it did not fit the way I wanted it to fit in my pack. This one didn't either. The blade is a great size and fits great, the handle was too long however, by just an inch. Luckily the handle fell out of my pack one day after a bad tumble, so I bought a replacement collapsible T handle and now I have the perfect shovel!!!

Great Shovel, and Super Light Saw

Another great Voile product. The scoop is T6, their strongest material. The scoop is a little smaller then the Tele Pro (13.5x10 vs. 15x10) so it can be stowed easier. The handle is sufficiently long and sturdy. The saw makes a good addition for snow study and works well as a wood saw. Highly recommend this, a probe, and beacon to fill your back country quiver!
