Ronnie's 1974 rust-bucket hammered down the dirt road with the determination of an angry old man searching for constipation relief at Amco. He cut the wheel hard when the large rodent darted in front of his bumper. Damn- missed it. Ronnie just about filled his Volcom Frickin Modern Chinos as the American mega-cruiser kissed off a huge pine next to the road and somehow righted itself.
Bottom Line: The hunting used to be better in these parts.
The material is the same, the difference is the cut. The Frickin Modern has a slimmer leg. I've got my current Volcom catalog out here, this is what it says. -Frickin Chino pant: relaxed fit chino pant, 17 1/2" leg opening -Frickin Modern Chino pant: Modern Fit chino pant, 16 1/2" leg opening
Dogfunk.com knows that no one wants the used-car-salesman experience, so we decided to show you the other guys prices in an effort to keep your shopping experience as informed as possible. Only certain sizes are on sale for $24.72. Dogfunk does this quite a bit actually. It is usually sizes that are either one extreme or the other, i.e. size 28 waist or size 38 waist.
I purchased these pants about a year ago and am still enjoying them today. The Frickin Modern Chino Pant is great when you need to tuck a shirt into it, but also great for impressing your lady. Bottomline, these are a very versatile pair of khakis that are constructed well.
reasonable price. I have the RVCA weekender and these are way more comfortable. I have the brown pair but under certain lighting they look grey. or so I've been told by a lot of people.
These pants are a bit slimmer than the Borken. The Frickin Modern has a 16.5 inch leg opening and the Borken has a 17. They will be similar but not exact.
They both feature the same material, 65% cotton and 35% poly for super light weight and wrinkle free care.
LOVE the style of these pants. Not a big fan of tight fitting pants but was looking for something more form fitting, and slimmer than the traditional cut. These Volcom chino's are super comfy and are worth every penny. HIGHLY suggest 'em.
Chinos are a style of pants or shorts. They're usually light weight cotton. The pocket style defines a chino pant. As opposed to jeans which have a distinct five-pocket design with curved front pockets and exposed back pockets, chinos have almost vertical front pockets and slash-style back pockets. You can see what I'm talking about in the detail images. Hope that helps.
A little late on this reply, but I wouldn't recommend these for rough use. They will stand up to moderate use, but I think that they are more suited for office/casual/going out. I wear them with a shirt and tie often. Comfortable for a guys night out, but suitable for a Vegas night club
I'm looking for the Volcom Frickin Modern chino pant style #A1131008 in a navy color, size 30. I can't find it,though the Volcom Frickin Modern chino style #VLC6214 looks just like the style I'm looking for and this style comes in navy. Are they the same pant? I'll purchase style #VLC6214 if I know for sure that they're the same pant.
These pants are great for the money, they fit well and look slick. I'm 6'2" and a 30 waist and fit well with little to no bag. I would compare these pants to my much more expensive Quick silver Chinos (90$). For 50 bucks you will be hard pressed to get a better pair of Chinos.
These pants are sick, the cut, the material, the colorways! everything is sick! i purchased two pairs at volcom in nyc, the navy and the khaki. favorite pants to rock and favorite pants to skate, definetly better than the regular frickin chino which i have been a fan of for years. at this point i only skate in chino/twill pants so go ahead and cop these cause these shits are fire!
Dogfunk's specs on these pants are wrong; the leg opening isn't 18.5in like past versions of the Frickin chinos. I bought the Charcoal Heather in the same size I usually wear Frickin Chinos (I own 2 others) but when I received it and tried it on the legs were too tight! The "Modern" cut is basically a straight skinny fit (and I hate skinny pants). If you're looking for slim-cut pants then these are for you (the quality looks great), otherwise move on.
Try the Volcom Frickin SOLID Chino Pant. I am not a skinny pants person and they fit great. They are more of a relaxed fit as opposed to the MODERN Chino Pant.
I got these in the charcoal heather to wear as my dress pants, and I love them. They're a pretty normal fit - a tad on the slim side, but the waist is true to size. Overall, a really comfy pant.
