The protection you need when you practically live in the backcountry.
As you probably know, chasing pow through the winter means plenty of time is spent in the backcounty. You can't be out facing the elements for that long when you're wet and cold. That's why Volcom made the T.D.S. Snowboard Pant to keep you out there longer. The V-Science fabric wards off moisture while Volcom's T.D.S. thermal mapping system features the proper amount of insulation right where you need it so you can stay warm without overheating.
- V-Science 2-layer 15K-rated waterproof fabric and fully taped seams keep you dry when winter storms roll in
- Fully taped seams prevent moisture from seeping in
- T.D.S. lining strategically places lightweight, packable insulation where you need it most, and leaves it out where you need it least
- Ergo fit is slightly baggy for freedom of movement and room to layer
- Mesh-lined zippered vents dump excess heat
- Zip Tech jacket-to-pant interface allows you to zip the powder skirt of your Volcom jacket to your pant to create an impenetrable barrier against snow
- Boot gaiter keeps snow from going up your leg
- Two hand pockets, two back pockets, and two cargo pockets provide room to store essential gear
- Stone Butt Patch reinforces the seat of the pant for durability

SO awesome /)^3^(\!
These pants are SO awesome and keep you warm!! I bought them in the silver and it looks like brushed metal, VERY nice look. They are extremely comfortable and have the TDS padding where you need it, but doesn't make you excessively warm. The venting in the pants works very well and cools you off very fast when it needs to. I wasn't originally planning to spend this much on pants, but you really get what you pay for with them. They are a bit baggy on me (and I am 6'2"), but I love this look (personal preference). One of the key features that sold me on these pants are the pockets - I absolutely love pants that have both velcro and zipper pockets because I carry a lot in my pants and don't want to lose anything. At no point in the day did I feel any part of me getting cold or wet around the pants besides the time I left the vent open. Volcom got it right and is definitely going up in my books.
Up close look at seat insulation
This keeps you very warm and also wicks away very well if you do warm up a bit. DOn't forget the zip tech featuere which zips any Volcom Jacket into any Volcom snow pant to keep snow out of your bottom.......which is nice.
TDS Pant Rules on cold days!
OK, so here's what you really want to know about the TDS Pant. TDS (Thermal Defense System) Warth where you need with thermal waffle insulation in the most critical areas. Volcom has been doing this going on 3 years now and has been a major success. This is a great insulated pant with an excellent waterproof rating and awesome breathability when you need it. Vents are great plenty of pockets, one cargo pocket has a spot for your pass. You will not be disappointed.
I bought these pants to go with my Volcom Landvik jacket to take full advantage of the Ziptech functionality. It was super easy to attach the jacket's powder skirt to the pants zipper located around the waist band and it felt great. The TDS system in the pants were super warm. On the slopes I actually had to open the Terminal Venting zippers located on the inside front of the calves to let some cool air in a few times.
The pants are super dry: Even sitting on my bottom for some extended periods waiting on friends didn't let any moisture through and they only got slightly cooler on the bottom. I even spent some time kneeling too in order to do some filming and with prolonged periods of contact with the snow, I stayed dry. These pants are beasts.
The pockets are perfect. The back pockets close with velcro and they have a flap that goes down over the pocket that also velcros so it's double closed. The pockets on the front of the pants are really cool. The left side is different than the right so it's some added style to it. I used the right front pocket most and it has a beasty zipper. I can't see it ever malfunctioning and it was a real charm to operate.
The TDS liner inside goes down to just below the knees which is were your boots come in. The powder skirt inside the bottom of the pant leggings have a little hook clasp on the front side of them which allows you to snag it on your boot laces to keep it from rising. This worked very well. The bottom of the pant legs have a tough liner type hem going around them that will keep the pant legs from fraying over a long period of time.
These pants are not baggy. They have a nice slim fit. Not tight like skinny jeans but definitely fitted.
Best pants I've ever owned.
UPDATE: This weekend it was 3 degrees on the slopes and I spent a lot of time in some backcountry powder (sometimes up to my waist). These pants stayed warm the ENTIRE time!
