Use the locking Yakima Ripcords to put your board or kayak to your roof rack. You'll get two nylon-coated, 12-foot-long steel cables that protect and secure your gear. SKS locks are included for added security when you stop to grab a beer after a good surf session.

Ripcord for Yaks
Purchased the Ripcord for some security when my yaks are roof top in public places. Added a security bar to the yak and simply thread the RC through the bar when using it as a tie strap to the "J" cradle. Doing this allows 1 pair of RC to secure 2 yaks. The RC can be used to secure to a cradle like a std strap, just be prepared for a bit more effort while doing so. They are quite stiff and have a memory of the coil shape as they are packaged. BTW security bar must have at least 1 inch of width to thread the rip cord as there is no fitting it through an opening narrower than the cord width. They are not very compressible
Useful, easy to use, and less expensive than comparable equipment. A little stiff when new, but it loosens up (in a good way) after some use.
